Killed: 1990-96ish Infiniti Q45

So I was driving home from work around 2pm (I work early) on Rt. 422 near King of Prussia, Pa when some rasta looking dude in an old Infiniti Q45 spots me merge in real fast, the way I like to do sometimes and he starts tailing me until he could do a fly by. I thought it was funny and sped up. Never seen an old Q series and wanted to see what it had. I knew it was a V8 though. Turns out they produced 278hp/292tq. back then, but must have lost a lot of it over the years.

Anyhow we get on the turnpike (Rt.276) and wait for an open stretch to have a run. He's in front and floors it, but I quickly catch up, get ahead a bit and slow down to see if he'll do a roll, but....he just kept on going! I'm like So he's like 5 cars ahead and I was able to eventually fly by again at about 110-115ish and pull 2 cars before shutting it down. He shuts it down too, gets in the other lane next to me I give him a , but dude looked kinda upset. I was just having some fun, geez! Then we just roll through traffic going with the flow until I had to exit. End of story.

Yep still stock. I have a K&N drop in. That's not really a mod though...Soon I'll have a CAI or SRI , but first I need to spend $$ on tires for inspection this month.

It has some pull to it, believe it or not I can still accelerate somewhat hard from 100.

I am wondering when do you redline at the end of 3rd gear, at what speed? On a type S it would be roughly 100-105mph, but tl-p has a slightly lower redline so that's why I am asking.

The first gen Q45s were good for mid 15s in the 93mph range. They were decently fast back in the day.

Around 95ish I believe. I didn't use sport shift for this race, but my car did double down shift when I punched it.

Todays V6's are like yesterdays V8's I've noticed. Not in all cases of though, that's for sure. 4.5L V8 vs. 3.2L V6 and I still won.

yea, engine technology is growing at a rapid rate. It would be great if cars get lighter to further improve performance and fuel efficiency, but it seems like it's not heading that way.

That's cos everyone wants more and more features in their cars these days! It's a trade off you have to make in the sports sedan market. I personally want an old Golf GTi (lightweight and tossable) for a DD, but can't afford insurance/payments on two cars at the moment.
