Question Keyless Lock Problem!!!

Hey guys, I can't lock my car doors. I've tried the following and it doesn't work:

1) Using keyless remote. (Unlocking and trunk button works on the keyless remote)
2) Pressing the lock button inside the car

The only I can lock the doors now is manually pushing down the lock. I've checked the fuse box and can't find any problems. Can anyone please help me?

Sounds like a bad driver's door lock actuator.

Try the locking button on the passenger side door- does it lock all the doors? If yes, it's the actuator.
If not, try re-linking the remote (although it sounds as if it's already linked).

Welcome to AZ!

Thanks for the welcome message Will Y.

I just checked the car. The lock button inside doesn't work on either side door. 2 odd things are happening:

1) When I press lock, I can hear a clicking noise as if it is registering in the receiver but nothing is happening.
2) After I manually lock all doors and press lock on the key fob, the 'beeping' notification would sound. I guess it's confirming that all doors are now locked.

It just doesn't automatically lock. To relink I would simply hold down lock and unlock at the same time right? But for how long? In any case, I think it's already linked. I'm not sure what to do now =(

Sorry, but it sounds like the door lock actuators aren't working. It sounds like you will need to visit the dealer service dept, esp. if you are under warranty.
FWIW, you can do a search for "door lock actuator" to pull up a couple of threads mentioning similar problems. G/L!

Does anyone know how to determine whether it's the driver or passenger side door actuator that's gone?

(Both side door locks don't work)

I haven't yet. I don't want to spend a fortune at the Acura dealership unless I have to, I guess, thus, I've posted here.

I've tried calling Acura to inquire about the pricing for the actuators. (Front = $40.06 CAD; Rear = $134.67 CAD). Then I tried to tell the guy the symptoms and he just told me to bring it in. He was kind of being a jerk too, but I guess he wants business.

I was at Canadian Tire and they were more friendly. Told me it could be the door lock actuators but he doesn't think so because it's relatively a new car. He says the connection wire may be off or something.

I'm going to open up the door panel when I get the chance to try and find the problem. I shall update if I discover anything. I hope you will too vv_lebelie =)

Funny thing is a buddy of mine has an '04 TSX and he had to replace his actuators recently.

Well here is what i tried.

I reset the computer ( taking out negative battery terminal for about 1 min ) it reset the whole car. ( no success there ).

Relinked keys ( no success there )

I ordered a driver side door actuator yesterday will be in today, i will attempt to install it today. It is most likely the actuator, seems like its somewhat of a common problem in these cars. Because when i push the lock buttons, i an here a little click sound under the driver steering colum. So its gotta be something in the doors.

Is there there a DIY on the 04 tl door panel removal? Or a manual i can buy?

THanks

I tried everything you tried too. Resetting the computer by removing the battery and relinking the remote keys but no luck.

I hope it's just a faulty wire or disconnected wire cuz then it'd be pretty cheap. Yes there's a service manual that gives you step by step instructions on how to do anything and pretty much everything to your TL.

I will private message you give you more info.

it is not in fact the actuator, I tried plugging in a new one i purchased for $45 but that was a waist.

it is located behind the door panel , you will need to cut the plastic stuff when removing the door panel. its on the left side with 2 plugs, a 3pin and a 2 pin

Ok I think it is related to a common part both driver's side and passenger's side run off of. If it were the actuators the most likely only one side or the other would not be work. But both doors are not working. Are the rear door locks working or just the front driver and passenger side?

I would also check for a common ground problem. But in my opinion its definately related to a single problem/part for both sides. Maybe on the hot side maybe on the ground side. If you had wiring diagrams that would probably help. That reminds me I should end up buying a factory service manual.

It's really pissing me the fuck off. A stupid MICU ( Multiplex Intergrated Control Unit ) costs $850 at the dealer. Fuck them, peices of shit. I dont want to fuck with the car to much. And I refuse to pay some peice of shit at Acura to scan it for $100 and tell me what the problem can possibly be. I really think its the MICU, which is located on the fuse box under dash on the FR side. Or could be the fuse box itself. I will open the driver side door again and test for current in the actuator. Worst comes to worse I will sell it and get another one. Fuck fixing just replace.

So vv_lebelie did you end up fixing the problem or are you seriously going to swap TL's?
