Great trade! Now you have a real (not really fake) interior and your car is not on the top of Americas's most unreliable cars list!

the Maxima is sluggish??

You can say alot of things about the maxima looks/interior wise, but one thing I've NEVER heard is that the VQ engine is sluggish.

Welcome to the forum and enjoy your TL. I was a huge Maxima fan (though never an owner) until the current model, which I don't find attractive at all.

That is a very good trade. My friend has a 2004 max 3.5 SE and he wishes he got a TL instead of his max. It really is build with some of the cheapest materials inside/out (except for the engine).

I'm a maxima and TL owner .. 2003 Maxima, however, the last semi-good looking Maxima ('99 was the last ultimate good looking maxima in my opinion). I love that 3.5L engine for its torque, and I love our 3.2L VTEC engine for it's high-rpm power .. great for highway driving. The maxima and TL, though similarly priced and equipped, are two very different beasts. Congrats on your decision, you should be very happy w/ your TL..

Please read the Garage forum for issues that may or may not come up w/ your new TL.

You could have added the body kit, but you can't add the Nav.

That's the one area where I dont like the G35/Maxima/Altima: orange gauges. IMHO, the Infiniti I35 has nicest Nissan gauges (EL and all).

The current orange/black theme seems like an homage to mid-80s Audis.

Welcome.

You may need more than a body kit to PIMP in a TL. They are as common as Civics in my area.

YMMV

Sounds good, But IMO, the navi is better then the body kit. for starters its a lot harder to add the navi at a later time. Also you get voice activation with the navi, and its just fricken cool, you spend more time looking out from in, then at teh outside. Congrats on your trade

i think you shouldve got the navi instead of the body kit. like others have said, you couldve added the body kit laters on. the navi you cant. anyways, i really cant tell you if you got a good trade since financial details are not provided. you went from a 05 max to a 04 tl which is a year older. but anyways, enjoy your new ride.

The '05 Maxima is arguably one of the ugliest cars on the road today. Thank god the Altima 3.5SE and Spec R or whatever exist.

I love how the G35's gauges adjust when you move the steering wheel .. that's pimp.

I traded my 2004 Maxima for the TL. Quite honestly, the TL blows the Max away...
The interior, overall build quality, looks and resale value are all pluses over the Maxima. The maxima felt like a boat to drive, although I will give it major points for low-end torque which the the TL just doesn't have IMO. I hated the seats in the Max...they were too soft and cushy and didn't hold you. I slid all over the place on turns. Also, as mentioned, Nissan has horrible resale values. I paid 30k for my Max and a year later most dealers would only give me 20k!! AND the car was immaculate with low miles!!

You made the right choice in going with the TL. It's a great car.

Hey, I know we dont have it yet, it doesnt meen I havent been in it. And I can use it in the parking lot (that was a joke). Permit in 9 mos so stop your whining. Just cause I cant drive or have a TL yet doesnt meen I don't know anything about it. I have written over 20 pages about it in my extra time here and there. My dad needs convincing, otherwise he gets a toyota. Just cause I'm smarter then you doesnt give you the right to tell me off. I was just putting in my 2 sence like he asked. I would have gone for Navi, thats the selling point for my father, he likes gadgets, I doubt he knows how an engine works. So if I were to have traded, personally, I would use the Navi and those features a lot more then a body kit.

a good trade

is what you think it is worth to you... There was no price mentioned in your posts so it is hard to tell. If you traded the 05 for an 04 I am sure you lost a lot on 05 trade.

I myself would not get rid of a car unless it had so many problems I wanted to get rid of it. Otherwise, I would keep it untill the warranty was about to expire and buy a new car.

So, I would have waited until the max was two years old and the brakes and tires were original and traded in for the 07. Just my opinion and I have done it twice...

YES..i was thinking the same but every dam day since i bought the maxi..i see only TL's on the road blinging my eyes out!!than i look at my maxi and take a deep breathe and say lets just wait 2~3 years..but like you know i couldnt wait anylonger and the maxima low end touque was too much over steering...front dash look like a kitchen table..the car simply felt like a hooked up accord ..had that cheap quality of power feeling even in fast speeds..but test drove the TL and it felt more like a BMW power..like rising thru the high rpms..felt more heavyly when speeding..the car felt lot more stable and luxary..and the price wise was..i had no choice but evening the payments out and paying zero money down otherwise mymother would not let me trade the car..so they said they would trade my car for $25 ,000 with 9000 miles.with navi and all options in maxi .18 wheels elite package and drivers prefeffered package..(bought for $31200)so i had around 19000 left over to pay off the maxima ..i had downpayed 10Grand..so i had left with around 6000 dolalr..so i found the 04 TL with 12000 miles with body spoilers for 26250 sticker price...so i paid 24000 even for the TL which came to around 430 a month which is about the same as the maxi.so it was a dead even trade.just car for car and about same monthly payment..sorry my english is bad..its not my language..

That is a really good deal that you have an even trade in. I thought you might have to put in some extra $$ for the TL. I had a friend that bought a 2004 Maxima because it was really affordable. However, after 6months with the car he traded it in for a TSX which was alot more fun to drive he said. I told him to trade it in for a TL but he had to add $8500.00 cdn on top which was above his budget!! That is massive depreciation I think for a one yr car. But he is a happy camper now with his new TSX. That is why I am suprise you got an even trade in. YOu got a good deal!!

Yes Nissan had the Maxima just right for 2002 and 2003; nice quality interior that looks like it belongs in a car for what it cost with a nice sporty look on the outside, the 04/05 just lost that. My wife just recently traded her 350 in for an 05 G35 2months ago which we love also 2nd choice was the TL. She looked at the 05 Maxima and did not care for it.
