Just put HIDS in my reverse lights
Just put HID reverse lights in my car. No wiring needed no need to splice factory wiring. Took us maybe 1 hour to do, the kit had weird connectors so it took a while. It looks good, I had CREE LED bulbs before and HIDS are much brighter and looks better. I don't like the color of the bulb it almost looks like 8k, wish it was a pure white 5k. Oh well.
Some pictures.
First removed the cover a big spider fell on my face LOL. Then I saw that

Here is the ballast. Its a smaller 15W so it does not melt the wiring. There is adapter included for the T10 socket which one end goes into the ballast and the other end goes into the T10 socket.

Output in a dark place. Brighter compared to CREE. Have to see at night. Installed these in a friends Lexus IS and his is bright at night. I brighter output since the TL has a bigger reverse bulb housing.

Left the HIDS on for about 10 min, housing was somewhat warm but not enough to cause concern. I am going to wire the switch up so I can flash the tailgaiters. But here you go.
Cost me around $120.

I got these from the KC electronics in NJ. The bulbs are very small HID bulbs they come with a rubber mount and just fit in snugly. They give you extra mounts in case you ever need them again.

A nice solution at a good price. I've had HIDs in my reverse lights for a while now---installed the "old skool" method. Love them.

I wanted to see how the output is at night so I got in the car and did not start it and it looked great. So bright. I got out to see how it looks from the back and realized only one light is on. I started the car and the other light came on.
I am thinking our cars don't have enough power for these to turn on when the engine is not on. Sometimes this would happen with my CREE LEDS as well. I "ghettoed" the install, I duck tape the ballasts, I would suggest 3M tape for a cleaner look.

To further illustrate the point, go sit in your car, turn on the rear defroster (Huge draw) the cabin fan full blast and stereo, and then fire up your headlights. They will both fire. If they don't, then you need to get your battery tested.
Otherwise get that kit exchanged. I found this with an old honda I did a conversion on. When I noticed it, i simply had to turn HLs off and back on, then the other bulb would fire.
you really have 'fap nation' on your trunk lid?
anywho...when you wire up your tailgater switch, make sure you get a momentary switch and the timer relay module.
in fact, i would get the timer relay now so that you don't burn out your HID's early by having them come on everytime you switch from PARK to DRIVE. set the timer to 2 seconds or thereabouts.

tailgater switch is hillarious. gives you the ability to turn on your HID reverse lights when driving to blind the person behind you that's tailgating you. they will back off almost immediatley. i do it for the lulz.
HID's are stupid bright...easer to see what you're doing when backing up (reverse cam)

Kit came with lifetime warranty. The issue is not a bad kit its the battery not giving enough power. I know the headlights work....but my HIDS fogs did the same thing until I wired them to the battery.
I might wire it up to that switch but I have a lifetime warranty so......lol.

Not a TL but its a backup cam showing the same HIDS. This is a Lexus IS. I tested these out last night at a dark parking lot, results were beyond belief. During the day I thought they would just be "bright", these were blinding. Can't wait to wire my switch.
ummm what about warmup time on the HIDs?
also, HIDs are not meant to me turned on/off on/off...burns out the bulb or ballast i believe...
did you wire up a time delay relay for when shifting into DRIVE?
I just ordered CREE LED bulbs....HIDS are too overkill IMHO.

NOPE.
When you shift into drive, you have to go trough the Reverse gear, which flickers your reverse lights...
This fast on and off can burnout HID ballasts/bulbs...
So my statement of shifting into Drive was spot on.
