15k? Yikes.

You called your TL a POS?!?!?

If you really feel that way about your car, please do yourself a favour and look for a different TL.

+ Stress Cracks in headlight
+ Transmission Gone Bad
+ Repainted bumper
+ Tow truck screwed up the bumper? (Tow hook cap looks fine, but the hole on the right of it isn't fine)
+ Overpaid for it

Talk to your dealer...

+1 again...I like the way you think guitarplayer haha

Also, what tint is on your TL? Do you know?...trying to figure out what % i'd like to go with. Not quite sure I want to go with 15% again b/c it got pretty dark at night

You know what they say; "great minds think alike" heheh.

I don't have tints yet =(

Most people opt for 35% (to avoid cop problems) to as dark as 5%.

When I tint my windows, I'll probably get 35% all around.

I didnt mean it when I said POS, I was in a really shitty pissed off mood. The dealership is a bigger pain in the ass every time I talk to them. Ill figure out what Im gonna do tomorrow. Hopefully it wont involve a lawyer. Even if I have to rebuild the tranny myself Ill have her up and running again eventually, im just pissed that this all happened within 2 weeks of me buying the damn thing

Didnt you sign a paper from the dealer regarding the warranty? If I were you I wouldnt let up until they absorb all the related expenses.

The dealer should be fixing all your problems, not you.

So don't rebuild your transmission yourself because it's really expensive.

It came with a 30 day 1000 mile warranty, the tranny first messed up at 900 miles and thats when I got it towed to a shop (a shop the dealer recommended, big mistake). They gave it back and said it was fine now, but obviously isnt. The main problem is the dealership says the contract I signed says they will only cover half of the cost to repair the engine or trans for the 1000 mile period. I dont have a copy of this contract for some reason, Ill get them to fax it to me tomorrow. So im just trying to find the cheapest way to get this taken care of

Only half? That sounds kinda fishy. May I ask what kind of dealer was this?

Its just some small used car lot, the kind that rips people off I guess. They had a bunch of nice cars- Audi, BMW... another TL and a TSX

All dealers rip people off one way or another.

That's still expensive to pay half the price to fix the transmission; it's not cheap.

I bought my car off a private party and the guy even said if ANYTHING happens within 30 days, he'd pay to fix it.

He was loyal to his word, too.
1 week after I bought the car the starter crapped out.
I called him up and told him my friend replaced the starter, so he drove to my house and paid me.

That's what I call good private-party service.

Ok, here's the latest update. I ordered the 3rd and 4th clutch pressure switches for the tranny and I bought 9qts of atf and I'm gonna 3x drain and fill it this weekend and see how it goes. I'm out of state now so I can't work on her til I get back

Damn man I'm sorry to hear about all of the problems you've been having with the TL. Like you, I bought my TL from a random used car dealership, and I won't ever do it again. A month after I got the car, my dash started cracking and I later realize that the front bumper was re-sprayed twice before I got it. Let's just say I called them and told them how I felt about the situation.

Good luck getting everything fixed and keep us updated!

Really hope it works out for you. I just bought a '05 TL 6MT and it's the same color as yours. She is beautiful and so far I am loving it. Hopefully your situation improves and you can start enjoying the car!

Wow welcome to the site Turbo... Sorry to hear about your issues but keep after that Stealership. If need be get your Jag involved... Trust me the power of the official request for information about your problem on Jag letter head to them will do WONDERS in making those crappy people get their act right... They definately do not want to get on the BANNED merchant list and lose the chance to screw a few more servicemen and women... This I know from experience!!! Anyhow I just completed the 3 by 3 and trans filter change from the DIY pictures and info here on the forum... Didn't use Red Line but used Mobil 1 synthetic and now it no longer has the early morning shudders between 2nd 3rd. I have not done the pressure switches yet but that is forthcoming. Finally thank you for your service it is much appreciated!!!

I did the 3x drain and fill and changed the 3rd and 4th clutch pressure sensors and the tranny filter, it seems to be ok now, Im just gonna keep an eye on the fluid and see if it looks ok in a couple hundred miles. The fluid that came out was burnt horribly bad. Hopefully this does the trick

Welcome and hopefully things on your car work out for you. I think some of the members including myself have the bumper paint mismatch problem from the factory.

I was gonna say the same from Nicourt. I bought a maxima from a dealership and had several issues the first couple weeks of ownership. I advised them I was going to talk to my legal office. The last thing a car dealer wants to do is get Blacklisted where military personal are forbidden to shop there. Also try the BBB website. Sorry to hear about all your frustrations and hope she is good to go now!

Well I talked to the city inspector that works for the DMV and I can get them in trouble for selling me a car without having the state inspection done, I bought it and took it home on Aug 3rd and they got me to driveback and get it inspected the next day- but when I looked at the paperwork they backdated the inspection paper to say the 3rd. The inspector lady said inthe computer it shows it being inspected on the 4th so I can get them in trouble. I just dont know exactly how much trouble, so I dont know how to use it as a bargaining tool.

I would make them aware of what you are capable of and have them replace the trans and refund all the recent costs you incurred or else have them reported to the relevant authorities. If they are smart enough, they wont let their business suffer because of one customer. Keep us updated
