Is it just me? Does the TL get boring?

Basic rule of thumb for leases: The car belongs to them, they want it back exactly as you got it minus the agreed upon mileage & usual wear and tear.
i.e. if you black out your lights, you will need to obtain an oem set to return everything to stock. You can always risk that they wont catch or care about it, but dont be surprised if they dock you for a new set of headlights.

it's a car-drive it
whenever I have driven in NYC-including Sunday-I was lucky if I could go the speed limit. Just alot of taxi's, car honking and traffic going less than 5MPH. How many miles are you allowed on your lease. I was bored with a tl automatic I drove-rather have a tl-s with 6MT.

I think you're getting tired of the color of your car, me personally I always wished I had a different color than anthracite, maybe a WDP or NBP.
I really drive slow most of the times, I really don't find it necessary to speed all the time either, but hell when I see a RSX/CIVIC/BMW or anything with exhaust its time for some fun and its one hell of a rush.

But I've noticed sometimes my car looks different, like one day my car will look alright, and then other times it'll sick.
On a side note, here is a suggestion:
Lowering the suspension will make you love your car.

When I was a teenager, I drove like a freakin maniac. Hairpin turns, speeding everywhere, changing lanes all the time, etc. Then, I think a combination of maturing and a few tickets have turned me into a much more calm driver. Same thing might be happening to you.... Speeding doesn't really get you anywhere that much faster (especially when traffic lights are involved) and the costs (speeding tickets, court, etc) far outweigh the benefits of getting to your destination a minute or two sooner.

Damn....at age 20 you own a car that many people in their 30's and 40's would love to own but can't afford. I bet if you had a 6MT you'd be slightly happier with it.
And how do have an AMEX at 20?? Amex requires 2 active revolving tradelines at least 2 years old. Well, I guess if you started getting cards right when you turned 18 it's doable.

I've only owned one automatic as my personal car in my life. It was a Toyota (/83 Cressida) and I moved it to backup when I got my '88 Mustang LX 302CID (of course.. manual).
I wouldn't know what to do with an automatic.

That stick would (was?) be invigorating while driving.

All About Trance
Come June, it'll be 3 years that I've owned my TL. Although Atlanta isn't as bad as NYC with traffic, we still get our fair share. And most of those years were sitting in traffic while driving a manual. Not ONCE did I wish to go back to an automatic. My last car ('99 Accord) was an automatic and I was bored to tears! Like you, I was doing the speed limit and felt like I had an old soul despite my age.
Subtle changes on the car will make you appreciate it more. My car has come a long way since stock and I love it more and more everyday. My gf hates it whenever we'd park and I would look back to check on it. LOL

I loved my TL-S for the first 8 months... now I'm bored with it, and I REALLY REALLY miss my STI...
I wasn't bored with the STI, I had it for a long time, and it was just time to get something new. I miss being "excited" every day driving my car, like I felt with the STI. Looks like I need another one...

1) you are getting *slightly* older.
2) you are getting bored with your car
3) the TL isn't necessarily a super "exciting" car to start with...
any car can get boring. I have owned several cars, often modified and fixed up very nicely. They are a blast when you first get them and first mod them. After a while they get boring. If you are a car junkie, you will get bored with anythign given enough time.
As you get older, driving fast is less of a thrill. You dont' do it as often. That's why you see car guys driving EVOs when they are in their 20s, and then big fat Benzes, BMWS, Lexus, or an Acura RL as they get older.
I'm 35 and am considering an RL. I would NEVER have wanted one when I was 25. It has to do with your age/image. When you are 25, none of your friends would think an RL is cool, you don't think an RL is cool, and you buy a TSX, a TL, or an EVO. When you are 50, an EVO is NOT cool. an S500 is.
not that old guys can't drive bad A$$ cars. I hope when I"m 50 I can have a 911 or some other cool/luxury supercar along with my RL/S500 whatever luxo car I cruise in.

I have a TL and love the car but am bored at times because I also own a camaro ss with a 396 stroker & nitrous that has 450+ horsepower. That car is a manual and fun as hell to take out on the road but it's not practical or safe to drive everyday and that's why I ended up with the TL. Every once in a while I have to just floor the TL and I love it again. I just cannot stand an automatic but I got tired of driving my camaro to work everyday in one hour of traffic going in and out of first gear so theres a tradeoff.

07 tl-s in
I think it's also partly due to you alway's want what you can't have. You get a bmw and see a hot benz all of a sudden your bmw doesn't do it for you as much, get a ferrari and then see a hot lambo all of a sudden the "exoticness" fades a bit.......
as stated previous a few and the right mods can make you FEEL like you have a diff car. this is part of the reason i mod my cars......

Kind of like the commercial...
"When you turn your car on, does it return the favor?"
I can say after 75,000 HARD miles, the answer is an unequivocal "YES!" When you start to say "No", drive some other (old) cars for a day...then go back...

Dr. Phil called, too much wine with the cheese thing, said to take one of these and call back in a couple of years if not better and do not hit anything or one, as things happen quicker on these meds:

I still like to get into the TL and look forward to driving it every time, whether it's onto Mulholland Highway, Sunset Blvd. or down the street to the supermarket.
I'm coming towards the end of my lease on the '05, but still really like it a lot and may actually buy the thing off lease if I don't like the 335i or TL-S.

I THINK IT'S JUST YOU DUDE, KEEP IN MIND THAT YOU ARE ONLY 20... SO YOU MIGHT BE A LIL MORE "CARE FREE" THAN MOST OF US. I'VE BEEN IN ONLY ONE CAR ACCIDENT AND THAT SHIT HURT SO I DON'T WANT TO RELIVE THAT AGAIN IF I DON'T HAVE TO.... (I HIT A LIGHT POLE GOING 55MPH) I LOVE MY 05 TL NBP W/NAVI...! I'VE BEEN WANTING THIS CAR SINCE THEY FIRST CAME OUT IN 2004 AND I RECENTLY BOUGHT ONE "USED" W/14,000 MILES ON IT FOR A HELL OF A DEAL ( I ONLY PAID $24,000) THE DEALER IS A FRIEND OF MY FATHER. BEING A POLICE OFFICER IN CHICAGO I CAN 99.9% OF THE TIME GET OUTTA TICKETS AND STUFF BUT I'VE SEEN ENOUGH ACCIDENTS THAT JUST WERE MIND BLOWING SO I TEND TO KEEP IT "EASY" DRIVING IN THE CITY, BUT ON THE HIGHWAY I PUNCH IT WHEN I GET THE CHANCE.....
PICK UP A FEW MOD'S LIKE EVERYONE HAS BEEN SAYING AND YOU'LL BE TEARING UP THE ROAD IN NO TIME, JUST USE CAUSION... REMEMBER, YOU'RE NOT THE ONLY ONE ON THE ROAD....
