Just got a TL-S, what should I do to it?

Hey everyone,

I just leased an '08 TL-S this afternoon, black on black.

I'm in love with the car, especially the rims and exhausts. I'm looking to go get window tints this weekend, so does anyone know a good place in the West LA area?

Also, what other cosmetic/performance upgrades do you guys recommend? It's a lease so I can't go too all-out.

Thanks in advance to anyone with advice.

Congrats! and since it's black, the first thing you should do is clean it haha

I would go with suspension(Coilovers)

First mod: Progress 24mm Rear Anti-Sway Bar (RSB). You will LOVE what it does for your handling around corners & overall feel. I just installed one over the weekend on my 2008 Carbon Bronze Pearl Type S.........and WOW!! 110% improvement!!
look at www.AcuraTLparts.com for it.........call Mike (contact number on web site) he was GREAT!! There is another vendor called excelerate here on the site, too.
**Mine is a LEASE, too. So, I wont go all crazy with mine either. I did order the A-Spec body kit from John Eagle Acura (call Stephen Bradburn) for $775 shipped! My local dealer is gonna charge $300 to put it on...........it's 3 hours of labor.
**Get the Carbon Fiber Trim Pieces for your Center Counsole (2 piece kit Acura Part) and put it on yourself.........it fits around seat heaters + cup holders.........it looks GREAT!!
Next, you will need to lose the CRAP stock Michelin tires (unless you got the HPT Yokohamas)............the Michelins are soo bad for this car! check out www.tirerack.com and read reviews for the Michelin tires from other owners...........yuck!
**I am looking at Kuhmo SPT, BFG G-force sport, General Exclaim UHP and Yoko S Drives.

A Cold-Air intake is very popular, the AEM seems to be the best one out there.........but they are all pretty close in HP increase.

Coils would be a great mod, but he is leasing the car..........$600 for coils + install, then you have to "return the vehicle to stock" at end of lease........another $300 (removal of coils & replacing the stock ones) = not worth it.

stage 3 exhaust mod. Cheap and easy and makes the TL-S sound the way it should from the factory. Also easy to have put backon at lease end.

Hey bro, I think you answered your own question. Since you leased it, I don't think any modding is really worth it. It's just an extra hassle and pain in the neck to put back to normal.

BTW, congrats on the lease!

stage 3 is getting rid of i believe the mid muffler and adding a dynomax pipe and removing some other muffler and adding a straight pipe... just makes in louder..

Aznboi had a really good thread on this.. talked about all stages and even had some vid and sound clips

window tint

hey i got my tint on Rosemead blvd, and they did a great job. this place called pro tint, it was a little pricey because i got the 3M tint, but it was all worth it. they always guarantee it for a lifetime. If you have any air bubbles ,you may go back and they'l fix it for u.

Actually Coil-Overs are a pretty good mod for a lease IF you DIY. For Coil-Overs, it's not too hard - drop one out, put the new one in. The back seat is the only difficulty and it's not "hard" it's just a PITA.

When returning, you can sell the used Coil-Overs and get a few $$ back.

The AEM CAI is suppose to add 10-15hp. I personally can't tell cause i installed in 1 month after buying my car. That was during the break in period, so can't say.. but it does make a nice sound. As for Stage 3, I would also recommend that. The cai makes sound from the front obviously, so you want to balance with something in the rear. I removed the mid muffler and replace it with a Magnaflow resonator. These mod's are less than 300 dollars. On top of that get the Progress RSB 24mm, that was also another good mod, i can feel the difference.

You must be counting the AEM Sticker too.

5 - 7 WHP more likely.

If you like to DIY, AEM cold air intake is your best bet as well as stage 2 or 3 exhaust mod depending on you sound preference, no power difference between them.
