Just got my ass whooped by a "bubble" EK4
Alright, sitting at a light in Elizabeth a modded EK4 civic pulls up next to me. So I ask him what he's running he tells me B16A swap and asks if I want to go on green, I say ok, but it's a very short distance to the next light, maybe 1/8 mile at best.
so 1st run - from a dig, I get the jump off the line while this guy starts burning massive rubber fighting for grip, I leave him behind but he catches up REALLY quick, as he passed me I heard his BOV so now I knew he was boosted.
Next light,we talk some more and I find out he's pushing over 510 hp at the crank . a fully built B16A2, Garrett turbo @19psi, and etc, all brand new.. Stripped interior, rollcage and so on. and he showed me a pair of Drag slicks in the back for when it "gets serious" as he said.
2nd run he wants to do from a 30mph roll, I know its useless but we go anyway, I honk off and he steps on and starts burning right there, shifts into 2nd and keeps burning through 2nd gear(he's redlining cause I can hear his rev limiter) but surprisingly I'm still there with him, shifts into third and when that thing catches grip, OMG that shit just LEFT me lol I felt totally useless like I'm driving a moped
He let up so I catch up to him as we come to a stretch of a straight 2 lane highway running parallel to Newark Airport with 0 traffic (I'm sure people from the area know) I pull up, we're doing about 110 side by side, he honks off and guns it.
I have no clue how fast he was going, but I took it up to about 145 and he was GONEE, I'm thinking he must have been at least doing 160-170 cause he kept gaining distance.
Just wanted to share a nice death with you guys, Damn I wish I had a camera and someone to record that, that car was a BEAST and I have gotten my ass handed to me by a 1.6 liter four banger

Good death. My son's old 96 Civic sedan put down 192whp with an untuned Ebay turbo system running only running 5psi. So I can imagine that setup above being a total beast.

I know it's not the same generation, but a friend of mine has a 92 Civic 4 door. It's metallic green civic that looks completely stock on the outside except for the intercooler. AKA "The Turtle". Tan cloth interior, all stock, except for a small boost gauge by the shifter. It's a turbo'd B18. It runs 9.8s@155mph now.
Running 10.4s@145mph a few years back

Lesson learned. Some hatches/coupes/sedans are MONSTERS. There are a lot that are just New Year's Eve noisemakers, then there are the filthy, nasty hatches. I want one so bad.
Dave - "The Turtle" that's awesome.

Nice death. I can only imagine your face when he came blowing by you.
Good to hear he was cool about it and you guys talked between the lights.

Yeah I was stunned. Thing is I really don't like all those hatchbacks and SI's driving around with a loud ass exhaust, slammed and with giant wings that just screams ricer. And when it comes down to it all they do is make a lot of noise and no go (which makes up about 90 percent of all Civics I see on the road lol, with duct tape and JDM stickers)
But this guy, I definitely give him props for what he's done, that was an amazing car, it was done right and it really showed the potential of a properly tuned Honda 1.6 liter engine. That's got to be the fastest Civic I've ever seen that was actually driven on the street, and it wasn't spitting out unburned gasoline out of the exhaust pipe lol
hmm.. I wonder if he was running methanol in there

You gotta watch out tho, sometimes there's a cop that sits on the shoulder on that stretch and will get you right after the bend.
That same stretch is where I discovered that my TL-S 6 speed is limited at 155 rather than the AT's 136mph.

check again i hit 136mph before it begins cutting out have done it countless times, but either way yea still sad
never understood why Honda limited an Auto trans geared to hit upwards of 200+ and not match the 6spd 155mph governor...
