Just drove my nephews.....
New Q50 sedan, what a sweet car! In sport mode I wouldn't even attempt to take him in the TLS. Handling? Again I wouldn't attempt to take him in the TLS. I've driven the newer TL's & this car is so much nicer, the steering input is amazing. Acura better up their HP etc if they want to compete. The MSRP was $44,000 and he got it for $39,000.

so you're basing a whole car on "handling" and power. cool. I can buy a civic for $2k and put $5k in mods and it'll leave the q50 in the dust in straight line and handling
my point is that there is so much more to a car, I dont doubt that the q50 is a great car but please, if you want to say one is better than another, use more examples than handling and power.

The layout of the interior of the Q50 is superb, the quality of the leather & the front seat bolsters are luxurious,, the rear seats have more then ample legroom, the door side panels and dash outlay is just perfect. The entire interior puts the TL & TLS to shame. Even the new TL is no match. Like I said, Acura better start doing something quick. Its obvious they are cutting corners on certain things & it shows.

It looks like an Altima
So is this replacing the G37?

To the OP:
-Was the Q50 you drove the one with the steering by wire? Did it feel artificial as many reviews have indicated, or was it weighted appropriately such that it wasn't over boosted or too heavy? I'm interested in the concept of steering by wire but don't know that I would want it if it doesn't feel well weighted.
Thanks

The Q50 is a beautiful car. The only car at the moment (outside super cars) that I would give up my TLS for right now.
Just don't want to get into car payments.

It was weighted properly. He put it in "Sport" mode and that steering wheel feel tightened up. It felt perfect & precise. Very nice car, even the Vice President of my Acura dealer told me the company is losing major ground against the others & refuse to listen to their input & suggestions. Acura just doesn't get it. They are stuck in 300Hp engines & boring designs. I will admit that although the Q50 looks great in the front end & side, the rear isn't too nice. Looks like an older accord. But for that price range the other choices are Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Cadillac, Acura.

Agreed ^ Acura has fallen way way behind their competition the last few years. I wouldent buy a new one if I were in the market for a new car. Its sad because iv always loved acura and have owned several, but lately they just haven't done much to impress me. Even the new nsx that they won't shut about will be produced in such limited numbers I doubt ill ever get an oppertunity to even check one out. That was my rant...LOL.

Interesting observation:
-The Q50 is all new to replace the G37
-The Q60 is the renamed G37 coupe (and looks the same)
-The Q60S is the renamed G37 hard top convertible (and looks the same as the G37 convertible)
I wonder if they're heavily discounting the Coupe and Convertible since it has 'old' technology compared to the Q50 (I believe the G37 sedan is fairly discounted now).
Edit: I'm going to answer my own question:
According to Carsdirect.com:
-Coupe is ~ $6900 off MSRP
-Convertible is ~$7500 off MSRP
That could be a compelling argument to get the 'older' cars

It's running with a good crowd, so it's being overshadowed by an awesome new IS 350, an awesome ATS and of course the 335. Q50 is a pretty good car, but in that price range, I'll be damned if I'm going to have my car mistaken for a Nissan Altima. I just wish they'd give the IS 350 another 30-40 hp.

I kind of like it. If I keep the same theme of moderate performance for my daily this fits perfectly. Decent straight line performance, 14" brakes, decent weight distribution, nice interior and luxury. It's RWD, and I have absolutely no desire to own an AWD car. The exterior is the only part that worries me. I think my TL looks better and newer with the very subtle changes I've made to it. I would take it over the TL if I had to choose despite its looks. I'm starting to get that new car itch but I could get a slightly used CTS-V for the same price. I hate that my TL is nearly perfect so I'm. It going to trade it in, just going to suck it up and buy a 3rd car.
