just drove my first TL, buying one possibly next week
well i drove an auto TL, next week im buying a Nighthawk black 6speed TL with navi, a couple things i was concerned with.
1) the car was VERY quiet, is that cuz i didnt get on it? Anyone use Cutouts that you can open a valve and it will make it louder?
2) handling...it didnt handle tight like i expected, didnt even cut is much as my Stratus R/T and that thing has some roll...would the Aspec suspension make it much nicer handling wise. or will having the manuals stiffer suspension solve that problem?
3) i didnt get on it much but it drive like my parents G35...will a stick TL beat my parents auto G35??
Thanks, just some questions before i fly down to virginia to buy that TL. o and if someone could help talk me into spending 17k above and beyond the stratus R/T for the TL, id appreciate it, im on the fence.

2) My stock 5AT handles pretty flatly at speed in corners; it's firmer than every Stratus I've driven. Handling depends on tire pressure as well-- I run mine higher than stock. The 6M has a larger rear antiisway bar, so it will corner flatter. A-spec will increase the handling limits at the edge.
3) It's a driver's race between the TL and G35, auto or stick, both straightaways and road courses. Miss a fraction on the clutch work and the other car will beat yours, whether it's a stick or auto. FWIW, Hondas and Acuras have great shifters and pretty quick-engaging clutches. The difference between a TL and a G35 is too close to call for 99% of us, although a professional driver may go faster on a tight or medium tight road race course with a 6M G35 than a 6M TL.

Tires have alot to do with handling... Drive the 07 TL-S, handles MUCH better then an 06 TL.
I have owned both...
The G35 is an EGG...
Why buy a used TL and invest $$$ in suspension when you can buy a new 07 TL-S that
already has everything much better already. Can get great deals on the 07 TL-S !!!!
GO FOR THE NEW 286HP 07 TL-S !!!

Get the type-s just for the growl of this beast, not mention the better handling and more HP ... quad pipes baby ... two-tone perforated racing style seats ... navi with BT tech ..never drove a Stratus before but don't think you can have all that in a dodge(?) ...
Like JD mentioned, you can get a good deal on a 07 type-s right now ...

the question was about the roll of the car, is this thing gonna corner real good if i toss aspec suspension, in a Manual w. wider 18s or 19s?? is it gonna feel more like a sports car? im not looking for a super fast tight cornering ride, but i want something thats going to be a step up from the stratus in those aspects, in all other aspects its like 10 steps up im sure.
o and how come everyone talks about this car being slow at 270 hp 0-60 in the low 6's??? its not EVO but its still quick.

The TL is a great car. You'll not be disappointed if you get it. However, if you're still in college and your present car runs okay why bother spending 25K on a nicer ride. Save your money. Wait until you have a stable job and then consider getting a nicer ride. Throughout college and medical school I drove a 92 Ford Probe GT. It ran okay, got me from point A to B. When I finished with school then I got a TL brand new (05). I'm financing it with a low APR and still saving cash. Sorry for the sermon but it's just my $0.02

If you really like the 6MT TL and the cash isn't an issue for you, then I'd say go for it.
One advantage of buying a used TL is that it will hold a great deal of it's value over the next few years, until you graduate and are ready to buy a brand new car (or whatever you decide).
As far as getting it to handle like you want, that shouldn't be an issue. There aren't too many performance mods available for the TL, but suspension is the one area where you should be able to achieve just about anything you want, from lowering to stiffer springs to adding/up-sizing sway bars to track/street-type shocks. If you end up buying it, start out by adding the rear sway bar and go from there.
