Just bought a Used 2007 Acura TL Type-S

Hello All,

I had a quick question.

I just bought a Used 2007 Acura TL Type-S. It has 107,400 miles on it. Here are a couple issues i am having and i wanted some opinions on what to do.

Steering Wheel tends to pull pretty hard to the right when driving over semi uneven surfaces... mostly at slower speeds. (which i mentioned during my test drive).

I read on here that Standard maintenance says that the water pump and timing belt should be changed at like 100,000-105,000 miles. as i mentioned the car is at 107,400 and i have put about 150 miles on it. there is no record that this was performed.

Lastly, the tighten fuel cap has been coming on pretty constantly... and i read about this (Service Bulletin #: 09-056)... i am just not sure if the dealership will blow it off or say it isn't covered.

I drove the car off the lot 9 days ago... Do i have a leg to stand on with any of these items with the dealership?

Thanks ahead of time for your feedback.

first off congrats for the tis...wht color and transmission is it?if auto i recommend the 3 pressure switches and trans fluid change...also yea just to be on the safe side do the timing belt job if there is no record...also that pulling you may need an alignment mine was doing the same and an alignment fixed it unless is something else and that fuel cap its like 50 or 80 and i forgot wht the dealer does to fix it but mines comes and goes and i learned to live with it...if you bought it as is then i dont think they r liable for anything....good luck and the tls is a really nice car

Thanks for the quick response simran4h, and thanks for the Congrats.... i am pretty obsessed with this model.

It is a Manual Tranny, 3.5L V6.

There is a warranty for like the first 60 days, but i am not sure any of this is covered. i sent an email to the guy who sold it to me, and am awaiting his response.

I seem to think the pulling might be alignment as well, although it doesn't really pull on the highway at all..... I read on here that the steering it stiffer on these cars and it might just be how they are made.... but i just wanted to throw that out there and get some opinions from some current or past owners.

Tighten Fuel Cap - yeah i wasn't sure if it was the cap or a solenoid like what is mentioned in the Service Bulletin.

I was wondering the same thing. i have a 2008 TL 5AT with 54,000 miles and sometimes when im slowing down about to make a stop, the car tends to turn to the right on its own. Its been bothering me and was wondering what it might be. (congrats on the TLS)

I just bought the same car and have the same issues. After having an alignment done if fixed the steering. Keep in mind that it will pull under heavy throttle due to being fwd. The tighten gas cap light comes on periodically and after checking codes seems to be a evap issue. Do a quick search to find more info on fixing it. Other than those small issues this car is fantastic....btw I'm at 115,000.

Though I have an 05', did my timing belt at ~125k miles. Belts were fine, but tensioner was ready to give out - which is just as bad as timing belt failure.

This is an awesome deal for a timing belt kit that I believe uses genuine/oem parts that Acura sources, for wayyy cheaper than what I paid. Get it now if you can!

Where are you located? There's a dealer in NJ that does the timing belt/water pump job for around $300-500 I believe.

I think you're talking about Hamilton Honda. OP, IDK if they're still doing the timing belt special, but it doesn't hurt to call and ask.

Welcome to the forum!

Tires could cause the steering wheel to go right or left on uneven surfaces. Usually that's the case with directional tires.
