JD Power Ratings
According to jdpower.com the 2004 Acura TSX has a much better Initial Quality Rating (IQR) than the TL. Especially, in the areas of Mechanical Quality, Body & Interior Quality and Overall Quality. What's up with this?

I don't think JD Powers survey are worth very much, yet sounds like common sense since the TSX is further down the learning curve. In addition, as sighted before the survey is based on customer perceptions. The more you pay for a car the less tolerant you will be about quality escapes either by design or workmanship.

the TSX is built in japan and work ethics there are higher than compared with the US. there was a long thread on US vs Japan labor. i dunno why TLGator assumed that the "small dick" individuals were surveyed. the larger dick overweight individuals were the ones who were surveyed since they are the ones buying the car.

TSX is mfg. in Japan and TL in Ohio. TSX have better built quality no doubt. However, JD is not a very good ratings. Read about what they said and they posted 2nd gen TL picture if I remember it correctly. They did not test the 04 TL.

You can't knock down the JD Powers & Associates surveys because many dealers rely on the consumers' replies and reviews thru those. If that is what the survey delivers in terms of TSX being better built than TL, than so be it. Just be happy with what you got!

That is the biggest crock of sh!t. My TL was in the shop for a couple of days and they gave me a TSX. The interior had a no better quality interior than my girlfriend's 1997 toyota camry. Very little buttons and compartments. Very boring. Plus, I heard a while back that the whole JD powers survey is garbage. the car manufacturers have to pay big BIG money for JD Powers to survey people about their cars. Seems funny how JD Powers never has a bad thing to say about a car. They will spin it so that no matter what the car is, it is GREAT. The TSX is the Best Mid sized-Import-Front wheel drive-four door-automatic-four cylinder sedan that is in the $28K to $29K range... or something like that.

Actually JD Powers perform the surveys and then the manufacturers pay to see the results of the surveys, use the JD Power name, etc...
JD Pwers does not survey products themselves, they basically survey the general public for customer satisfaction.
