I've been HIT!

I drove home today and was about to enter my engrage. The guy decided to back out for no reason and hit me! I got off and look at the damage. Nothing majoir. The bumper was cracked. I have a WDP. I don't want to go through the insurance company. How much would it cost to replace the whole bumper? help!

I did. I told him that if it's not much, let's solve it privately. So, I want to know how much it would cost to get a new WDP bumper so I can charge the guy.

how bad is the crack?
can the bumper just be repainted?
Repaint $350-$500
tack that on the the $250 for just the bumper cover
Me, I'd just tell the guy to give you $750 to be on the safe side

I had a similar incident, someone slid along the front of my bumper and ripped my license plate holder off, major scratches. 600 in Sunnyvale to rebuff bumper + repaint. (since you said cracked, it'll prolly cost more to buy a new bumper) I took it to a place in Bev Hills for estimate earlier and they tried 1010 on me for a new bumper + paint, I told them to suck a DI!$. 800 sounds about right, depending on whether or not you get a new bumper from Acura. Good luck with that

My rear Cover (WDP) was scraped up pretty bad and it had a dent in it as well. The body shop repaired and painted the rear cover for $471. Now the bumper cover is a shade lighter than the car. I guess I can live with it.

If there is a crack, there could be further damage to the frame.

Take it to a local body shop, let them give you an estimate in writing, and give the estimate to the idiot that hit you.

Good luck and sorry about this misfortune.

I got rear end while sitting at a red like in my Audi a few years back. It took some minor paint damage from the license plate on this SUV. You really could hardly see it, but it wasn't like it was when I pulled out of my garage 5min early. The body shop had to refinish my entire bumper and I wanna say it was like $1200. The guy the hit me, and the cop I called out were both pissed at my because you could hardly see the damage, but I told them to suck it because it wasn't there before that genius decided to rear end me at a red light.

You need to go to a bodyshop and get an estimate. Then you have documentation of the damage and a leg to stand on if it is worse than meets the eye. JMO

ahh it can be done for much less... but if hes paying... whatever

new bumper cover ~$300... + a body shop to paint it ~$200. you can put the bumper on yourself

but might as well goto a shop, ya never know, could be some broken brackets under the cover

The other party was very honest. He called the insurance and said it's his fault so he's taking the full responsibility, which means my premium won't go up, and i don't have to pay any deductibles. It's like it never happened to me. The car is in the bodyshop referred by my dealer right now. Hope I can get it back this Friday or Monday the latest. I guess it turned out not to be as stressing as I thought.

Since it's covered by the insurance company, I'll get a new bumper and since the car is pretty new. I am not so worried about the differencing in shading. I hope it turns out to be the same as before. If not, i'll complain till they get it right.

be wary about the paint matching. ive seen many TL owners about paint difference after repair.

Yeah, that's why I fear. So that's why I asked the dealership to recommend one and they said if there's a paint job or body job, they go to this one. It took me 30 minutes to get there but I think it's worth it because a perfect job is better than a so-so job that I'll regret. Besides, if it doesn't look right, I have the right to keep complaining till it's perfect.

They bring it to Mastercraft on Bridgeport. It's a bit far for me as I live in Yaletown. Do you know that place?

I forgot to ask them to put extra taping on my a-spec though. I hope they know to do that. I think I'll call tomorrow and see if they've done it or not. I hope not yet so I can ask extra 3M tapes to be put on.

Got my car back today. They did a really good job. The paint match is perfect so it's like it never happened. Very happy. Took them 2 days only.

It sure was. Must be because Lights called in and gave them some "talk". Haha.

Now I need to find the covers for the front license plate holes. They didn't give them to me when I took the car. Actually, I never knew such thing exists before I joined AcuraZine. Hope I can get free ones from the dealer.

I didn't get the license plate plugs when I bought my car either. I called the dealership and they sent them to me in the mail.
