Issues with the tinters in my area...
Ok so here in Columbus it comes down to 4 different companies that tint. Two of the four are not recommended, and the other two seem great but when I asked about "moleskin" I got two responses. 1) "Whaaa????" 2) "We don't put that crap on, it always come right off".
So what should I do? Is this something I can order, and do myself?
BTW, quoted $220 from both, both use Lluminar.

I would suggest not trying this on your own if you've never done it before. And if you dont mind me asking why are there only 4 tint shops? It might just be me but 220 seems a little low its probably just NJ but people around here get there windows tinted for around 300-350 if you have 7 windows. So you might wanna check around.

wow tint is pricey. But IMO moleskin is a must, otherwise you'll get plenty of fine scratches on your tint.

My mom paid $220 for 3 windows for her 08 accord coupe and they were quoting my best friend $220 for her 08 5 series for the back 5 windows.
I would go to a shop that knows that moleskin is

Seriously, that is all there is. Just 4. 2 people have horror stories from, 2 people recommend. Both of those either had no idea what moleskin is, or totally disregards it because "that crap comes off".
I guess I'll call my dealer, see who they use.

$110 for all seven windows 3m film with lifetime warranty. $300 is way too much even $200. i didnt put on the moleskin the first time around and totally regret it. moleskin install is really easy, took me an hour to do all four. theres a special at http:///forummembers/ quick shipping too

Hey, I'm up on the north side near Polaris. Can you tell me which two companies were recommended? I'm considering the tint. I don't want to go "LIMO" dark, can you recommend which % is light and subtle? Look forward to your response.

Moleskin = a soft velvet-like strip to go inside the window that will minimize scratches on your tint.
I got my tint in Vegas before I knew better, $130 5% front and back, this is the tint they used, not sure what type though either Rayguard or Silhouette as they are the only one's with a 5% option, http://www.johnsonwindowfilms.com/AUTO.php, I didn't know what moleskin was at the time either so i have some minor scratches on my driver side front.
Anyone know if this tint is any good?

You have to find out what the tint laws are of your state. I think 35% is a very good start. Anything lower than that and one has problems seeing out the back window or the rear passenger at night time.

oh you have to go to www. acura-world .com (without the hyphen) and add that top part to the end to find the thread.
I guess they don't let me post the link here?
That's a DIY for moleskin... and I would definitely look into getting it. I went without through the suggestion of my tinter. "Man these newer cars don't need the felt." Yeah well I got tons of scratches on my tint now, thanks man! I should just did it myself but was too lazy and then HE was too lazy.
