I've got a new 2008 TL, and noticed a couple of odd things that may or may not be common, so just to make sure I decided to ask...

The first thing is the temperature gauge. It sits at 25% with engine fully warmed up. In all of my prior Hondas the needle was climbing to the middle of the scale, but here it's just at 25%. Is this normal?

The second thing is the slight vibration that happens during mild acceleration when the RPMs pass the 2000 mark. When cruising or accelerating quickly, the car feels pretty smooth. I have AT.

The temp guage is nothing to worry about. Honda has a tendency to change thier gauge layouts and scales (especially when it comes to the water temp.) and whenever they do, the Normal Operating Temp ends up in a different spot.

Ex.
90-93 integra = 1/4
94-01 integra = 1/3

88-91 civic = 1/4
01-05 civic = 1/2

As far as the vibration is concerned, it could be normal or it could be attributed to a plethora of different minor or major problems. You're under warranty, make an appointment and get it checked out.

 

Thanks for the info. I was hoping to get feedback from new TL '08 owners too. Does anybody feel a vibration when accelerating aroung 2K rpm? I mostly get it through the throttle pedal, and it doesn't happen when I just rev up the engine in park.

I've got an '07 TL-S and the temp guage sits dead center.

And nobody in that thread complains about '07. Weird. I thought '07 and '08 were exactly the same.

 

I have the same issue with my 1 month old 08 TL AT. Started out fine, but after 1000 miles the vibrations started. It is driving me crazy! Anybody have any suggestions?

 

i have o2 CL and temp guage us between 1/4 and 1/3 of the way up even on blistering hot days
