Exclamation ANOTHER UPDATE

Given some statements made by people who already have the shade about how it's a bit hard to get it around the rear-view mirror, I asked if Bruce would consider changing the template slightly by putting a V-notch at the top center of the shade. We'll see what he says.

We're now up to 27 shades requested. Keep them Private Messages coming, it is not too late to get in on this deal.

FYI for others who have asked various additional questions, I also asked Bruce about availability of the rear shade, as well as shipping costs to Canada and Hawaii. Will post the answers.

V-notch is already there. However, you have to tuck it since you get the heatshiels in place at the bottom first and then have to bend to get it under the mirror. There is a v-cut, a more would let the heat rays come inside.

Thanks for clarifying! I think I can visualize it now. So in your opinion, is there anything that could/should be done to improve the template?

I would prefer a larger cut out for the mirror. I keep messing my rear-view mirror up when I put the heat shield up.

Again the larger cut will loose the purpose and let the heat in. It is easier to adjust the mirror. I'll see if I can post the pic.

It's just my opinion. I do not think a larger cut out would reduce the effectiveness of the heat shield much. It would also make it easier for me to position my hang tag on the glass side of the shield.

Yeah, a larger cut really wouldn't affect it that much more. Keep in mind that you're still getting sun from the remaining 7 windows.

Dunno what they say. They matched with the Ebony, string matched with the alum trim, I bought it. What they say anyway? Can somebody translate.

The one on the left says "ahn" which is usually means peaceful or safe. I'm not sure what the other word is.

I saw and felt the "Heatshield" at Oakland Acura today. It's pretty stiff (reminds me of a sheet of dynamat or equivalent sound deadening material).

One on the left says "peaceful" or "safe", the one on the right says "smart" or "intelligent".

Exclamation Update

Just te let everyone know what's going on: I've e-mailed Bruce the list of names/e-mails and have now sent a total of three additional lists of people. I have not yet heard back from him. If I don't receive an e-mail from him on Monday, I'll give him another call.

I want to make sure that everyone who wanted the shade sent their FULL NAME/E-MAIL address to me by PM. Again, the group price is $15.50 + shipping as opposed to the regular price of $30. This is a no-brainer, people!

I didn't respond to anyone, unless they forgot to include their full name or e-mail, but rest assured that I forwarded every single name on to Bruce at Canvas Works. We now have over 30 buyers.

As soon as he e-mails buying instructions, I will post a notice here so that anyone who doesn't receive instructions can let me know.

I just got an email from Sandra at CanvasWorks. I placed my order this morning. When asked about the wider V pattern, she told me Bruce said there's another pattern they can use for those customers who request the wider Vs.

$21.96 w/ tax shipped in California.

Thumbs up Hopefully the final update...

People who have provided me with their full name/e-mail address should be receiving an e-mail from Sandy at Canvas Works today with ordering instructions.

The instructions mention availability of a rear shade as well. Sandy will provide me with information about it and I'll post it here.

NOTE: there were 4 people who provided me their information yesterday and 1 today. I have not yet forwarded your names to Canvas Works, but will do so tonight.

Exclamation IMPORTANT! Please, read.

NOTE that Canvas Works will only accept additional names for this great group buy at 49% off until the end of day tomorrow. So I will forward the final list of additional name at 11 pm Eastern time on Tuesday, March 23rd. So if you want to get a front and/or rear Heatshield sun shade at $15.50 + shipping, you have until that time to PM to me your FULL NAME and E-MAIL address.

REAR SHADE: is available at the same price as the front shade. It is made of exactly the same material as the front shade and is attached to the rear window with a suction cup in each corner. The price is the same as the front shade.

LARGER V-cut: note that you may request that your front shade has a larger V-cut to accomodate the rearview mirror better. However, Canvas Works doesn't really recommend this, since such a cut will let through more sun shine. They say it's expected that you would need to slightly bend the shield to get it around the mirror and that it will not degrade the rigidity over time.

Someone has asked me, if Canvas Works would ship to Canada or Hawaii. Give Sandy a call at 408-738-3959 and ask her. If you're happy with the answer, PM me your name and e-mail address.

You should be able to visualize it based on the pictures of the front shade and the description. Really, it's just a trapezoid with a suction cup in each corner.

I'm afraid it is. There is nothing stopping you from calling Canvas Works and asking if they would still offer you the group price. Chances are that they would do it.

Got mine a couple of days ago (the shop is apparently right down the road). It fits like a glove and seems to do an excellent job of keeping out the sun.

Thanks, modeler, for setting this up.

Has anyone found that the sticky backing of the velcro strip comes is starting to unstick from the surface of the heat shield?
