Interest thread for a new spoiler

This is a TSX wing, but we are looking at the possibility of making a fitment for TL also. Materials are FG and CF, look for about $250-280 on FG and $320-$350 for CF. 1x1 JDM style weave.

Hey thanks for posting in the TL forum! I'm betting this lip spoiler will generate a lot of interest as long as it resembles the aggressiveness of the TL-S lip (the base TL lip is just too plain jane for me). Originally I was looking to spend around $200 however. Let’s see where this goes…

It sticks on.

We can paint it yes, also carbon is available.

Rear light? There isn't really room for one, and that would look sort of tacky I think. Plus an led one would be expensive!

The one on the TSX looks horrific. You should make a concept of the spoiler on the TL and than we'll see, but I'm sure lot of people would be interested as long as it better looking than the lip wing or lip spoiler that we're all accustomed too. GL!

It looks too high for me too..

How about something like the backyard spoiler for the s2000.... I think that might flow well with the body lines of the tl..

i think what it all boils down to is sticking with a concept that works...the TL Type-S lip. If your spoiler resembles this lip rather than trying something "new and innovative", people would be all over it. Not to mention it would be a hell of a lot cheaper! Anyone else concur?

Ehh not feelin it for the TL. It's like a mix between the Type-s lip and the CSL one.

How about something that wraps around the edge and has the cut out for the emblem, like the Honda Accord Lip spoiler

no thank you.

STICK TO TL-S STYLE!!! The fact that the MSRP on the TL-S spoilers is $628.07 is a representative of the demand for that particular spoiler. A spoiler should be made to the spec of the Type-S lip...If it ain't broke, don't fix it! (If you guys haven't noticed I want the TL-S spoiler at a decent price rather than taking it up the rear)

I guess if everyone wants a TL-S rep that would be safe, but I would not want to make a straight COPY. That's just lame.

The wing we have for the TSX is a slightly shaped version of the EDM Ducktail wing, an OEM wing from Europe that also costs $500-600. So we made this wing as a rep with a little flare to it.

I think the TSX is a more spirited car than the TL, which is more about strength. Like, the TSX is a sword and the TL is an axe. So maybe something more bold is better for the TL. Just copying the Type-S wing would be pretty lame, though we could use it as a base then go from there...

The problem we are having with the TSX group is this really polarized opinion. Some people love it and some hate it. I am having a hard time figuring out what to do with it. Even in this thread we have design elements that some people like and others that don't.

I think give it some time (the thread is only a day old)...as soon as this project gains better visibility you'll have a better idea of the market. In the meantime...

Marcus I know you don't want to make a types replica but if you make.it Carbon Fiber it will be unique. I would preorder a CF Type-S Rep Lip!

Ug, no REPS! Maybe a TL-S wing to start with but we'd want to enhance it a bit.

I can't believe how polarizing this wing is!

Marcus, that spoiler looks good from the side, not so much from the back.

whoa, whoa, watch the use of the word "wing" around here, we're talking about a "lip" spoiler...i know many ziners as well as myself do not like the factory wing or any wing for that matter.

And yes, it seems to be a love/hate kind of reaction. what we're finding out however is that there actually are people that would buy it (and more to come), therefore verifying your "interest" thread

A Lip goes at the bottom of the bumper. This is not a lip spoiler. Technically we call it a decklid spoiler. But is it still a spoiler

But yea, it isn't really a wing. It is more of a wing than a lip though, to be honest.

While some interest is verified it is not seeming to overwhelm. We like to see more of a 7-3 towards approval...this looks more 7-3 towards disapproval!

But if we can alter the design as phee said, I think it would get a better reaction from the folks here.

Ha, I hear ya I was just pulling your leg before. So do you think we'll see a modified prototype "decklid spoiler" for the TL anytime soon? This could potentially change people's minds.

Well, it sort of depends. It always turns into a catch-22.

I don't want to invest in a part unless I know people are going to buy it.

But people don't want to put money in unless they know they are going to like it.

i think that would look funny on the TL because the top of the trunk comes out, not like how the TSXs is flat

sorry to jack this thread...but have u ever considered fabricating a simple/clean front lip for the TL...i think something like that would generate alot of interest! as for the spoiler, i like it...but its too similar to whats already out there...i saw some good suggestions with the accord, and s2000 style spoilers. good work tho!
