High, no. It's out-freaking-rageous!! I complain too. It's a lot of money.

'07 TL-S (commute vehicle) = ~$900 per year

'02 TL-S (pleasure vehicle w/inexperienced driver) = ~$2,200 per year.

That's AT LEAST a $1,300 premium for an inexperienced driver.

Do you parents a favor, get a job and throw in $50 or $100 per month toward your insurance. Seriously. They'll appreciate it and might end up tucking some of it away for you.

My premium increased $80 per year after I traded in my 04 TL for the 08 TL-S.

$2,200/year for a 2002? The car itself is only worth about $8K, right? Why not simply self-insure/carry liability only and put the majority of that money into the kids account so that when he wrecks the first one, you already have a base of cash for the next one? My parents gave me a $600 "throw away" car when I turned 16. I never wrecked it and when I turned 18 I got a jeep and my younger brother got the 1970 Cutlass with the huge friggin engine in it to beat up on.

well i do work but i seem to spend it on gas rather than helping to pay for insurance.. being a full time college student at the age of 16 and working doesn't seem to balance out to well, but in the long run i technically am helping them by saving thousands on my associates..The school pays for all my books and tuition as a part of my program and i finish junior and senior year of high school at the same time as doing my associates =), and the school is 12 miles away from my house :/
