Installing inspire fogs

Hey guys, I recently got my inspire fogs in the mail and I'm ready to hook these bad boys up! I was wondering if you guys that already installed them could give me a few good tips before I attempt to install them. I'm also having a lot of trouble figuring out the wiring all that electrical mumbo jumbo. Please if you could help me out with the wiring that would be great!
Thanks!!!

Man, my phone was just blowing up with emails from notifications on Facebook about this topic!
I think your name came up in a lot of the emails.

Here's what you do:

Wiring to upper fogs/DRL (you can turn them on and off as long as your upper fogs are turned on):

Wiring to be independent (you can turn them on or off whenever using the switch as long as the car is on)

Haha! Yeah it was me! I was messing around and got the fog light switch to turn on the bulbs without installing the fog light housing. I put the switch in my car and got all the wires out the firewall. Then I snipped the brown clip off the red wire and hooked it up to the battery and hooked up the ground wire to the neg. battery post. Then I went to the light wires and hooked the wires on to the battery as well. Everything worked out great!

So now my question is, How can I do this in a more organized way? It looks way too messy the way I just hooked it up. I know I can ground the wires to any part of the body frame, but where should I put the power wire for the switch?

Yeah, but no need to be a douche bag about this. Noone really has a true DIY guide for Inspire Fogs. I can't really make sense of all the accord fog DIYs so that's why I posted the thread. The purpose of this thread is to get some info from people that already did the Inspire Fogs.

Your method works, but what you just did (by snipping off the brown connector and putting it to the battery terminal) make your fog lights have power 24/7. Not really efficient, as you'd have to remember to turn it off every time you leave your car. Otherwise if the switch is set to "on", that thing's gonna run all night.

What I would have done is put that red wire to the fuse box for accessory power. Makes it independent, so you can turn on and off if you want, but it automatically turns off if you turn your car off even though the switch is set to "on".

Also, only the actual fog light needs to be hooked to the battery terminal (one that comes fused with a ring terminal already).
When you brought the cabin harness wires to the battery terminal, you could have just used the red wire to the fuse box, and the ground wire to the steering column bolt.
It's a lot cleaner look.

The ONLY wire that needs to go through the firewall is the YELLOW one.

Credits to Undying Dreams for the pictures!

Btw it's Thanh

Thanks a lot guitarplayer. I got everything hooked up and working. I connected power wires into the fuse box. Now I just need a good way to mount them in securely.

ok help me understand the wiring please.
First I will mention that I have a base 04 Canadian version which means I have no stock fog lights so I will be using the switch provided with the inspire fogs.

where exactly does the red wire with the brown clip go?
I read in another post that it was connected to fuse #32, do I need to do this? Also I have my cleansweep connected to fuse #32, what other fuse can I use if necessary?

the red cable that comes independent from the harness cables, I used that to extend through the firewall and connect the 2 yellow ends...was this right?

the red power cable with the loop connector I connected to the fuse box as shown in the pic above. Does it make a difference if I connect directly to the battery?

ground is ground

I appreciate any help that can be offered...thank you

shaunbui - i'm trying this install now as well but struggling to see where to get the wire through the firewall. would you be able to post some pics of both the engine side and the cabin side that shows where the wire gets in/out of the firewall? thanks!

Poke it through where the big grommet is right on top of the dead pedal.
There's a huge wire harness going through it already.

Yes, the red cable that's independent goes to the yellow wires and through the firewall.

The red power cable with the ring terminal on it yes indeed goes to the fuse box or battery. There is NO difference whatsoever except I find it cleaner looking to the fuse box.

As for the red wire with the brown connector, that goes to your trigger such as fuse #32, the parking light wire, low beam fuse, etc.

I would do it to any fuse that's on when the car is turned on. Such as the heated seat fuse.

Thanks but it must be that the 6MT has different locations for wiring as I don't have a wiring harness above the dead pedal - I've got the arm for the clutch pedal there. The only wire harnesses I can see from the engine bay aren't easy to reach - one is about the middle of the firewall behind the engine and the other is slightly to the left side, but again pretty far back and looks like it would end up coming out from behind the passenger side dash. Anyone been able to run a wire through the firewall on a 6MT easily?

Okay, you're right. Manuals usually use the grommet in the middle which is slightly coming through the radio area.

Yeah, I have an AT so I just poked it through the hole where all the wires were going out with a coat hanger.

Run an extra wire or two while you do this! You'll probably need it in the future and will save time!
