Injen vs K&N intake

I am considering the purchase of a CAI system to coincide with the first oil change on my car. I am currently torn between both the Injen and K&N systems for our cars. I have read bits and pieces on the forums about each, but am hoping to garner responses from individuals who have them installed.

The Injen looks sick in black!
The K&N is sweet, and I like the fact that it can be converted to a short ram (helpful here during the rainy season).

Any input or feedback is welcomed!

are you really going to do all the extra work to convert the CAI to short ram when the weather starts getting wet in FL?? i have been considering the Injen. i like the 3" tube it comes with. bottom line, i think the CAIs for the 3G TL are all very similar as far as power goes. they really do not add enough since the car has been designed pretty well enough to squeeze every little bit out of it (outside of turbo/SC).

i guess thats the reason why i just opted to get the K&N OEM replacement since the car already comes with a CAI.

good luck!!

Well unfortunately the rainy season here is pretty intense (4 hurricanes this year). So yeah I would go through chaning it out as I don't want hydrolock (where the intake acts as a big straw and sucks water into the engine).

How is the drop in?? I thought that K&N didn't make one specifically for the 3g (it is not on their website). Were there any gains with the drop in?

If I could grab a drop in direct from K&N, I might consider it, but only if it were specifically designed for the 3g.

you cannot notice if there are any gains or not. K&N originally listed one for the 3G TL but they took it off. i believe it is part number 33-2078. please search for my posts to confirm. it is the same size filter as that of a 1995/6 BMW M5.

you can buy one from bavauto.com.

Injen

I live in NW Florida, experienced few of the hurricanes this year...no problems. The only way to get hydro-lock is to submerge the filter in some pretty deep puddles.

I know that Jim the Greek posted a dyno gain of 11fwhp with the Injen on a 5at. Does Comptech have an air intake out now? I am ready for a wee bit more power, I powershifted yesterday and I am trying to avoid that LOL.
