Info on a potential '04 purchase requested...
hey guys,
I'm new here (just joined, actually). I am looking at buying a 3rd gen. TL. I found one that looks really nice that I am considering. It is a 2004 TL with 86,911 miles on it. It does not have nav. Their "asking" price is $12895.
The pictures look immaculate. I am planning on going to see it (maybe buy it?) Saturday. What issues should I really focus on or be concerned about. I know earlier '04 ones had tranny issues. The VIN is 19UUA662X4A012443. Do you guys know if that VIN falls before or after the tranny fix? If it falls before and the tranny issue was addressed, is there still the possibility that damage was done prior to the fix that might rear its ugly head at some point?
Overall, do you think this car is worth asking price? ANY information you could share would be immensely appreciated!
THANKS so much in advance!!!

If it's lasted this long I wouldn't worry about the tranny TSB or oil jet kit. Look at the TL and it may already have the "kit" installed, but just drive the car and inspect everthing closely. That's a decent price if in great condition, but check CarFax for any problems and make certain good title.

2004 TL – From VIN 19UUA66..4A000001 thru 19UUA66.4A014224, so yes, the recall covers that car.
Here's the TSB link. It tells you how to check if the TSB has been performed (most likely it has since this was a safety recall). Check for a punch mark above the 12th character of the engine compartment VIN#. If it's an Acura dealer, they should be able to look up the VIN in their computer system:

Here's a good link to find a ton of info on problems, maintenance procedures, technical service bulletins, and do-it-yourself tutorials:
