Inexpensive brake pads for the Type S
Hunting around to replace the pads on the wife's 07 Type S we bought last December, at 21,000 miles, what I'm assuming were the original pads, were down to about 3/16ths. They weren't quite on the squealers, but the pedal feel and brake response told the tale - it was time.
Shopping around, looks like the pads go for $200 in some "finer" situations.
I scored these on Amazon for $26.00. I have no delusions about them being track-ready pads, and if they only last 10k miles, it takes all of 10 minutes to change them on the brembo calipers - something I really liked.
Anyway, don't know if anyone's discovered these or not, but I've put it on the road for a bit after installing, and *gasp* they stop the car just like they're supposed to. HOPEFULLY they're a bit less dusty than the stock ones. I had to start waxing the rims with Ms. heavy gas-pedal driving the thing all the time.

Here are the rears I bought, also very inexpensive:

Three Wheelin'
honestly, brake pads is something i dont "cheap" out on.
Im sure there are better pads out there than OEM
but, i feel more comfortable on OEM pads even with slotted rotors.
I associate "inexpensive" with ---lower quality standards and material.

I just went out and heated them up. I've got a pair of alternating 90 degree alternating switchbacks with a valley in between on the backroads up to my home. Hard braking from 80 to 35, back on the throttle, hard braking from 70 to 35, back on the throttle, 60 to full stop, no ABS assistance. Dunno about longevity, but they're sticking more than well enough for daily driver pads.
We shall see. Again, not a track car here, just want another 20k out of them without dropping 150+ a set.

Did some more research here; these Auto-Extra pads are marketed in the US and Canada for a company called "Uni-Select" - who is apparently a pretty large reseller, though I've not heard of them. Not sure if that helps or hurts the quality thoughts about the part....lol.
