Indentation: Warranty or Not?
Whenever I drive I have a tendency to place my left arm on the black leather/vinyl strip that's located at the top of the door. Here's my dilema. For some reason, there is a indentation on this part that appears to be there permanently. The location of this indentation is almost identical to where the tip of my elbow rests. I have no other explanation as to what could have caused this other than the imprint of my elbow tip. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Will this be covered under warranty? How much will it cost me to replace this strip in the event the dealer doesn't replace it? Is this part of the car prone to this type of problem?
P.S. I have a similar indentation on the left pasenger side that occurred while helping a friend move. Whatever I had in the back seat poked a indentation on this side. In hindsight, it was a stupid move on my part. I curse myself whenever I think about it.

Someone else reported the same problem you have with the indentation months ago. He was able to get it replaced at the dealer.
I would go to the dealer and just explain to them the indentation and let them take care of it. It should be under warranty (just like our "wear and tear" seats are, if the foam compresses fully prematurely and isn't "cushiony" anymore or if the leather butt prints won't come out) and should be replaced.
But also bear in mind that just because you're replacing it this one time doesn't mean the problem won't go away. I suggest putting your arm somewhere else (like the armrest on the door panel) or on the wheel.
