i'm st 49,765 miles
Hi Guys,
I'm just about to hit the end of warranty, for my 2007 TL-S, can you guys think of anything I should get checked before the warranty runs out?
Car runs great still, should i look into extended warranty? If so, which ones have you guys used and had success with?
I'm in riverside area, do you think a timing belt for 60k is really necessary? And a transmission flush.
Thanks

Timing belt is not needed at 60k, it is recommended to be done at 105k mile along with the water pump, belts, etc...
Transmission fluid should be changed every 15k miles.
If I were you I would bring the car to the dealership and say I have some problems with my car like the engine and transmission is not as smooth as before. This will make them check the engine and transmission. If you don't tell them you think there is a problem, they won't bother. Brake fluid every 30k miles.
And for extended warranty you should contact Tim @ HondaAcuraWorld.com , a trusted vendor on AZ. Hit him up, he'll give you a good quote for the extra 4 year, 40 k mile for like 1200.

we never flush the trans!!- we do drain and refill with new honda fluid
ps fluid is about due- 60, brake fluid every year is really good maitenance but at least every 2 years
Dont make up false things for tech to check- thats a waste of their time and you can be charged for their time if no problem found
The major warranty items make noises before they fail.
All your electronics- speakers etc working?
ask your dealer how much for the warranty- its a negotiable price you want to speak ONLY with a Sales Manager about
Tell them you are shopping and whats the best offer

I have an 05 TL has 49500 miles, and I just got it back from the dealer since they fixed the heated seats and a few of the interior lights which went out....don't hold me to this but my service advisor said I've got warranty up thru 52500 miles I specifically asked him to repeat what he said....and he said "Your car is covered up thru 52500 miles" problem is my 4 years are up on October 22, 2009. So let's just say something goes wrong after that date but before I hit 52500, they will probably say I'm past my warranty expiration date I dunno....but I am hoping that if anything else is gonna go wrong it go wrong now and not next month .

Way off topic here, but I am skeptical of the extended warranty. I buy Honda/Acura because of the reliability record the companies have over the years. To buy an extended warranty for $1200 or whatever amount seems like a waste of money. If you maintain your car religiously like everyone here does, the car should last at least 10 years if not double that amount. My first car was a Honda. I drove it for 15 years and the only things I changed were a battery, spark plugs, and timing belt. It was as reliable and trouble-free as can be. (late night rambling)

You might be skeptical of extended warranties, but I am SOOO glad I got one when I bought my car. It had 51K on it when I bought it and I ALMOST didn;t get the extended wrranty but I ended up getting it. Since I bougth the car, I have had well over $3000 worth of warranty work on my car! Thank GOD I bought the extended warranty! Just last week I had my gage cluster replaced under warranty because my temperature display wasn't working and teh hands free phone symbol wasn't displaying. The service bullitin said I needed a new gage cluster control modual. This basically meant the whole gage cluster which would have been $850 + Labor!! I won't even go into all the other stuff I have had to get replaced under warranty! I only have 12K left until it is over though so I hope I will get everything fixed by then!!

Man all I wanna say is...some people just have bad luck with cars. I have 90 Integra with 400,000k on it and it still runs good. Like ToL8 said if you maintain your Acura/Honda it will run forever.
BTW My TL has 68k with no problems.

Can you please direct me to where/when the Transmission fluid should be changed... and also where it comments on the timing belt.. etc...

Im just gonna put my 2 cents into this whole extended warranty question. I am in the Business I Sell Lexus but I still love my Acura.I worked in sales for 10 years at a Honda dealer before I joined the Evil Empire(Toyota). I dont know or never have in the past purchased a extended warranty. I just think that the Honda product is good enough to go without it.That being said if your the type of guy that brings their car into the dealership for every squeek and issue maybe you should pony up for the warranty. It's like rolling the dice at the craps table. Once again just my 2 cents.

I'm brand new here...just bought an '07 TL-S last week with 49,600 on it. The next day I got a 4/48 extended AcuraCare warranty from http://www.bernardiwarranty.com/ for $1085. It may not be necessary, but since I have no idea how the car has been treated and because there are so many features that could go wrong...it was worth it for my peace of mind.

The email address does not work. It bounced back undeliverable. Is he on here? What is his screenname?

Consumer report has extensively looked at the need for extended warranties. One will break even, if they buy a car that is known to be unreliable (Mercedes, Audi, etc). In vehicles known for their reliability, they lose money. Now are there going to be cases where an Acura product goes bad after 50K miles requiring $1000s to fix, possibly. I guess it's a gamble that one has to take.
Personally, I didn't bother with the extended warranty. I was at the dealer the other day because I was having some issues with my CD changer. The thugs there said it needed to be replaced. They suggested I get their warranty for $2K and file for a warranty claim 3-4 months later for the CD player.
I said no and decided to wait on fixing my CD player. Several weeks later, the CD player is working normally again.

I would get an oil analysis done by blackstone labs and post it on www.bobistheoilguy.com. It will tell you subtle things as to how your engine is wearing and if you have any sort of coolant or air leaks. How many miles do you have on the current oil? If you just changed it than its worthless but if you have had it in there for some time than an oil analysis will help you immensly.
As for warranty, google Bernardi Acura extended warranty and get it from them. They are by far the best price I have found so far. Tim does not work for Acura any more so that might be the reason your email bouncing.
Take care.

'06 TL 5AT NAV Anthracite
I purchased an Acura Care extended warranty about 3 weeks ago at 49,800 miles. I fully expect the car to continue to be trouble-free, but with the high-priced electronics like the NAV, audio, climate control etc and of course the powertrain, I decided it was worth having the protection.
