I'm having second thoughts about color

I'm starting to think the WDP w/parchment is too "old" of a color. I'm now starting to think of SSM w/Ebony. For your info I'm 21. Anybody have pics of SSM with Ebony?

For a 21-year old, I'd go with the SSM/Ebony. The ebony is a gorgeous interior, but a little high maintenance - needs vacuuming a lot.

I know I am biased but the WDP is NOT an old color. It's a pearlescent, read shimmery, off white which is very classy. SSM is nice too but I feel, IMO, that it's too commom of a color. I like the wheels to be different than the car. It just looks better that way. It's ultimately up to you. See it in the dealer's lot and you will have a better idea.

i think silver cars are overdone at the moment. i see so many of them. in WDP i think the car would stand out a LOT more than the SSM, especially the interior

popular color get a negative hit in resale value

choosing a popular color now may lead to less resale value later on

had a popular color lexus SUV and when i ot the blue book value to sell it off so that I can get a TL, I got a negative hit for having the popular common color.

I'm not really too concerned with resale becasue I'm going to lease it and turn it in at the end of the lease. But that is a very good point.

Both exterior colors are nice, but there is quite a bit of difference in the interior. I would decide that first. I like the ebony, but parchment does have a classy look to it.

I loved the SSM/ebony the minute I saw it. The wife wanted White/Camel. After I won the battle she told me a few weeks later that she was really glad we got the color that we did.

So you know my vote. :-)

I own a NBP/Ebony and as everyone knows that is the best color combo there is bar none.

But....

If I had to choose between the 2 choices you've given above, I'd go with the WDP/Parchment. White is a sexy color on this car. I've seen some WDP's that look absolutely killer when some tint is applied to it. Silver is well... silver like every other car on the planet - nothing stands out about it - rather *gulp* Accord-like. I like the ebony interior better though.

I think WDP/PARCHMENT is THE best color for the SUMMER, bar none. Silver is too bland looking. Black is sharp. but hot ,and alot of up keep, and you see scratches easier.

ohh yeah they only use white tl's for loaners at my dealer and black good luck keeping it clean and cool in the summer, i read on one thread where one nbp owner actually fried an egg and 4 pieces of bacon on the dashboard and this was on a 60degree overcast day, he used the excess grease to condition his leather...tree polon, rainspots, dirt, dead bugs seem to be magnified on black cars..stick with silver

I vote for the WDP. That is what I would have gotten if WDP was offered w/ the Ebony Interior. It is so eye-catching down the road...IMHO much more than an SSM. (SSM owners feel free to disagree)...

hey, I just turned 40. I thought about getting WDP,but my wife said it looked to old. She offered me a grand just to get another color, so when when I was at Montgomeryville Acura, I walked through the lot to see what they had. Found the coolest combo. Anthracite/Camel. Very European looking. By the way, do not get your heart set on a color. Go the dealer boy (not the mirror- Tommy), and pick out a car on the lot and make your best deal, especially at the end of the month and Memorial Day!

Antracite with Camel was my first choice but supposedly when the dealer ran the search they said they could not find any within the area that they trade in.

BTW: I'm looking at a 6-spd.

Interesting. I think Anthracite/Camel is a fairly common combo, or at least it was a couple of months back.

I just find it funny how I see a lot of Anthracite owners saying how common SSM is yet the majority of 04 TLs on this board are Anthracite. Everyone "thinks" silver is too common, goes and buys a different color, and next thing you know everyone has that color. At least on Long Island, most of the time, look around at a traffic light and you'll never see more silver cars than any others.

As for WDP, it does look classy, but I would never drive a white car with light interior. It is a popular combo for older people and does not have a young, sporty feel that, for me at least, is very important.

anthracite is the most popular TL color i think, yes.

but on the road, you will see a lot more silver cars than grey ones, or white ones, or blue ones, or black ones, or...

from the looks of things the nbp/black is the color combo the young/immature like best. silver/anything is very much played out. its everywhere on every make and model now. very boring and acura silver is bland anyway. the wdp/anything is gorgeous and you WILL be complimented by strangers often. I think the parchment is best but its your taste.

well - I really like the NBP with the camel interior, but ended up choosing black to prevent the scuff marks that my old camel interior got in it - but I'm really dreading the summer heat.

i know the silver cars are all over the place but the lines of the TL fit so nice with it. i would have gotten anthracite or NBP but when i saw the car in the showroom i knew i had to get the SSM. i swore once that i would never get a silver car but here i am with one. the WDP is great looking as well but i can never get use to the camel or parchment interior, i prefer black.

Well I went to a dealer yesterday afternoon to look at the colors. I'm really torn now. The WDP is very nice with the Parchment, but the SSM with Ebony is very nice too. I'm really torn right now. Which do you all think would be eaiser to get in a 6 speed?

the SSM is probably easier to get in the 6MT because its the more popular color. there will be more quantities of it shipped to dealers.

WDP with a six speed would be awesome, and unusual. I had two Silver TLs before getting my WDP 04, and I love it. The white looks sleeker, more well put to gether, the silver doesn't do it for me in the 3rd gen for some reason.

Regarding the ebony interior, take a good long time sitting in that car and get a good sense of how much smaller it feels than the parchment (or the quartz for that matter). The ebony doesn't do justice to the interior of this car in my opinion, and it always looks dusty inside.

Think it through, and don't worry about waiting a few extra weeks for the right color..its worth waiting for the one you really want.

Silver "ROCKS".... and has a classic look. Silver with the black/grey interior is quite classy.

Thats not my point... but at the same time I don't see more Silver cars than other colors. At least not around here. Around here I see a lot of white and black cars, and darker colors, actually. Of course there is a fair amount of silver cars, but there really isn't too many, which made it a good choice for me. I really didn't care what color other people drove. I picked the color that, to me, looked best on the TL.

Anyway, my point was that it is a bit hypocritical for the "anthracite cult" to badmouth SSM because it is too common when their color is the most common TL color.

It's ridiculous to bad mouth anyone because of the color of their car. Now, the color of their SKIN, hey, that's long been proven a legitimate cause for discrimination.

I totally agree. I personally think this whole car club color thing has gone too far (professionally hosted websites, come on). We all have the same car, we shouldn't be enemies with eachother over something as stupid as car color... we have idiot G35 and Bimmer trolls to deal with.

As for your second comment, well...

That SSM/Ebony combo is tasty. The dark interior makes you feel like you're nestled into a cockpit. I recommend.
