illegal HIDS
Will i get pulled over in the state of maryland if i had 8000k HIDS? and whats the worst they will do? I ask this becuse i hear there illegal from some people and other people say that it really doesnt matter so im confused. IS it just recomended that we dont have 8000k HIDS or is it actaully illegal in the state of maryland?

wrong section and check your local state law. 8000k is really bright. But my view may be tainted because of where I live. NYC cops will pull you over for just having blue hids.

Bluer than stock? Yes
Brighter? No
They will be actually dimmer.
This may be the wrong section but the answer will still be the same in another section, you dont want 8000k if performance is what you are looking for, if you are looking for output that looks like you have two smurfs burning in each headlight then yes go with 8000k

If he doesn't bother to read his own "Do's and Don't" thread and figure out he's posted in the PHOTO GALLERY, why would he understand the complex nature of higer temp = less light?
He's 17. He doesn't care about lighting "performance", just as long as he looks good.
sprtstr012 - check my sig for some other "cool" ideas to make your car look "hott" (or is it "hawt" ?).

I don't really think glare is the problem with bulbs >8000K. Our projectors do a pretty good job of focusing the beam and preventing that. As mentioned >8000Ks are not really brighter, they have less usable white light. The bigger problem than glare is distractability. That's what really annoys the oncoming drivers, they don't like the blue and they tend to lose attention to the road because they follow the eerie glow of the lights, tend to look at it too long then get blinded......then they flash back cursing because they think YOU blinded them when in fact they blinded themselves! lol.
The majority of people don't like >8000K bulbs, there's good reason and I can understand that. I for one will say I LOVE them. I have them on my car top and bottom, I guess I love smurfs yes, hahaha. But I can agree anyday that 6000Ks are more useful and wiser. This will be my last car with 8000K and I will grow up soon. 8000K is the limit though. If you get pulled over you can get away with it because they aren't THAT blue. Now if you have 10,000K+ you are asking for it. They look OBVIOUSLY bluer and a cop CAN write you up for that. I know they are cracking down on this in the NY area because there are TONS of cars out there with these lights. These nuts have gone to the extent of 20,000 and EVEN 30,000K nowadays. I have seen every color from red to green to orange and purple. Now they ruined it for everybody because lights like that aren't just unsafe they are plain STUPID! You can't see with them they are totally to show off and for a desperate "look at me!!" effect.
So <8000K to stay safe and legal.

Proper aiming would probably be very important to keep from drawing unnecessary attention.

I personally see no reason to change from the OEM 4300k bulb, which is the optimal temperature for usable light. I've been in a car with 8000k HID bulbs during a rainstorm and let me tell you, you can't see shit in the rain with blue headlights. Looks are important and all, but not at that cost, IMO.
There's a local kid with an RSX-S with 12000+ HIDs (they are legit purple). Incredibly "look at me" and I am sure he is pulled over nearly daily with them.

Anything over 8k is illegal I believe. It depends on what you want. I have a 8k lowbeam setup with 6k. Rockyfeller influenced me to get 8k, and yeah I love them too. The only bad thing is I can barely see anything in thick fog or rainy days. That's why I'm going back down to 6k.
