If you decide to go RonJon, you won't regret it. And welcome to Acurazine.

Thanks Trend-I try. I'm obviously very in to this stuff. Many guys know much more than me though. I learned a lot by reading on this site. But I think I've got a decent eye about aesthetic mods.

Hey Trend,

I honestly don't see many TLs.
And when I do, no offense to anyone out there... They are usually in the 30's+ range with no mods to the car. No A-Specs kits

Where you at in Denver?

Cars are my hobby, my passion, what I love to do in my spare time. My wife and I have two beautiful girls and I sold all my toys when they were born to provide all the little things needed for children and now that they are a little older am able to have my toys again, i.e. my car. If you look at my profile I have a photo album of my prior two project cars. My GTP had everything done, installed myself, and was all show and all go.

I prefer to stay away from the performance side of things with my TL because most who do heavy modding to the performance of a vehicle know that a daily driven highly modified vehicle tends to see more problems than benefits in this area. I think I am planning on sticking with the CAI and possibly a cat-back exhaust.

What I am currently thinking about is:

Ron Jon body kit ( I love the clean edges and the uniqueness of the kit without going too outrageous plus I see a lot of A-Spec kits on the road here in Denver);
Cleared headlights (will do myself);
Type-S Tails;
Grille Modification (not sure if I want to body match it or chrome with a reverse body match inseam);
07 rear side markers;
Wheels and tires.

I see several posts saying they would add coilovers, shocks or other adds to the suspension. Is there a particular reason for that. My TL rides nice and does not feel to stiff or mushy turning accelerated turns but maybe I am missing something?

Again, thanks for all the feedback and the welcome to the forum lots of good conversations here.
Ok this changes some things

Ron Jon body is definitely a nice looking body kit, they also have some cool wheels that go along with it.

Just FYI, there is a group buy for the ATLP Base exhaust system in the performance section. You can get a really good deal on it

Turbo kit and RSB. 400 reliable hp and torque. Nothing else will come close to that.

ahhhh i disagree on this. I have a Type S 6spd now and had a 04 auto before and i could really have just went with a base 6spd and just been as happy and had plenty of other money to blow on this or something else. Dont get me wrong this car is great in every shape and form and i drove it out the door in 08 for 34k and with the mods that i have done.... People who know nothing or alittle about the Type S doesn't know its one until they see the badge or I tell them it is.

I would go for the CT supercharger. Not familiar with the turbo though, it sounds like it costs twice as much.

Why is that? Auto will get down the 1/4 quicker than a manual in turbo form.

OOOOOOKKKK,..... so you bought an estimated $19,000 (KBB) car and have 6 grand to invest in it????? DUDE why didn't you spend the 25 grand on an M3???? or at least a REALLY GOOD down payment on an M3 ( a used one with 20,000 miles may have been 50 grand).... that way you don't even need to invest in it.... it already looks good.... but maybe you didnt wnat to finance the other 25 grand.... I'm not bashing on the TL... I love it, but if I had 25 grand.... I would have bought either a AUDI S5, BMW M3, or Brand new TL.

I understand your logic completely. But what we do with our cars is usually illogical. I used to preach a lot on here about why would you start with a FWD family car as a platform to start modding. But some of us can't help it. If I didn't have the GN to take care of my speed needs my TL would already have been turbo'd even though it makes no sense. Some of us just like modding and the challenge of going faster than the next guy. Back in '96 running an 11 second V6 as an 18 yr old was unheard of and I got a thrill out of torturing the older muscle car crowd. At it's current weight and power I could likely put it in the 9s if it had the suspension under it and the money to run it and if that's not enough I have an engine being built that should put it past the 800rwhp mark. It's sort of the same thing with the TL. You're at a disadvantage. Though there are only a couple people on here that have TLs that would compete it's fun to try. Just a couple years ago I never would've put all the money I've put into making a FWD car handle but I couldn't help it.

If the car is outside of the warranty I'd get a CarPC.
I've always wanted one as they add tremendous flexibility to the electronics, audio, and video capabilities of any car. www.mp3car.com

Hey OP,
The only thing I suggest you do is check out the Black Market in the Off Topic section. You can find really good deals on really good parts from members here. Why spend full price on an new item when you can get the same item for way cheaper and slightly used in the BM? If you did that, your 6K could go a long way. Anyways that is all I have to say, good luck and happy modding!!

Negative. The acceleration is intoxicating and you will have a big ass grin on your face every time you step on in.

Besides, if you're going the speed limit (at least around here), you gonna cause an accident or get rear ended!
