I doubt it. Usually major things such as accidents/insurance reports go on a carfax.

 

It will appear on your carfax if you claimed insurance to get the dent fixed...

 

My GF's Mazda 6 was in a $9K accident (Geico) when it was new, and CarFax came back totally clean 2 years later when we traded it.

My '02 Jetta was in a...get this...$17K accident (AIG) and CarFax is still clean.

Wow that's really amazing that it didn't show up, when I had to get 1k work done I didn't want to report it to the insurance so it wouldn't show up on carfax.. crazy

 

How big is the dent? Who is going to fix it?

 

My insurance company has not posted a single claim/accident on carfax. I have a clean record.
1. I've had the bumper replaced. (a truck blew a tire on the expressway immediately infront of me and I hit the tread doing 70)
2. Door repaired + new window (a drunk a-hole threw a glass at my rear-driver's side door denting the door and scratching clean through the paint)

Neither of these ever showed up on carfax. I have Allstate. They say they don't tell carfax about these small events. And why would they?

If you browse through cars on carfax, you'll notice that the majority have virtually nothing posted about them. BUT, you'll find one here-and-there that have EVERYTHING listed... like, oil changes, general maintenance, etc. It's because of this reason that I don't put much faith in Carfax, other than to know how many people have owned the car. The registration is consistently reported.

 

if a report with the local police was not generated, likely hook of being on carfax... extremely low... unless you filed a police report when you got that door ding you are golden

 

Depends on your insurance company, Ive had a bumper painted that went on the carfax (went through my insurance company because deductible was less than quote)
