I Spotted a Silver TL Type-S with 18" A-Spec Wheels

Guys;

I spotted a silver TL Type S with the 18" rims from the A-spec kit. I didn't notice if it said A-spec on the back. Can you get a Type S with the 18"s and those rims or do you have to get it with the A-spec option? Also, assuming it is A-Spec is the suspension the same as an ordinary Type S???

im pretty sure you can put A-spec rims alone on a type S. and if it is the A-spec suspension, its slightly sportier than the Type S.

suspension:

TL<Type S<A-spec

its very possible for that car to have jus been a type-s, with a-spec wheels. you can buy any car and put the 18" a-specs on them, not sure what youre asking?

check out this thread here for information on the differences between TL/types/aspec

Ecliptics;

ah thanks for the link. Yes the TL S I saw had the rims in your pic. Are those wheels significantly better than the stock Type S ones? I'd imagine they wouldn't last as long??

I really like those rims so I am thinking about swapping mine one day if its possible.

<----will have sparkle silver a-spec's for next winter rim's. why wouldn't they last as long? If you want them go for it, I like the style better and you gain an inch..........

I was assuming those tires are sticky and have a lower mileage rating. The stock tires are good to 30-40k miles I believe.

they're not better, jus better looking. the a-spec is an 18" rim and the stockies are 17". yea thinner tires would wear faster but thats the tire you put on it, not the rim.

theres a lot of aspecrims in the blackmarket for sale check it out.

AFAIK, all 3G TL wheels fit all 3G TL's, including the Type-S.

+1 on Bearcat. The only issue of what fits what is with aftermarket wheels. Gotta be careful there. Type S has bigger front brake(Brembo) calipers than non type S.

But you're only asking about A-Specs (love mine...), which are OEM wheels.

gotcha guys thanks. I just never remember seeing the option of adding the 18" rims on Acuras website when the Type S was in production last year...

They are in the "eStore" under Accesories. Same wheels as they offer for the Base models, etc. Basically the "A-Spec" wheels 18" split 5-spoke in Chrome-look or painted.

The colors/finishes offered seem to vary year-to-year, but the specs are the same and, as mentioned, any 3G offered Acura wheel fits any 3G TL.

You can often find some of the alternate finishes/colors on Acura store site on Ebay.
