I need help! NOW!!!

I was going under the hood of the TL, checking a few things. I unscrewed the engine oil fill cap and I dropped it! It fell somewhere under the hood but I can't find. Is it okay to drive without the engine oil fill cap on. I can't find it and my parents are going to kill me. I'll have to buy a replacement if I can't find but is it okay to drive the car without an engine oil fill cap?

Thanks!

You can't drive the car with EternaLlx's temporary cover, which is a good idea. You're gonna have to catch a ride with someone to your local auto parts store and get a replacement cap.

EDIT: Actually, I don't think you'll be able to rubber band it... there isn't a lip to attach the rubber band to. You need to sit something on top of it.

i bet its stuck on the subframe.. go under the car and look for wide steel bars under the motor. Feel around on top of the frame and see if u can find it.

it will look like a big vacuum leak and set a cel most likely, and/or make an oil mess under the hood.
Its likely stuck on something under the engine.

Problem solved! I finally found the cap on top some plastic thing at the bottom near the sub-frame. It was a hard reach because I had to manuver my huge hand and arm around hose and wires but I finally got it. Thanks very much to those who replied. God answered my prayers

Good deal...I was gonna say...dont drive it....gonna make a HUGE mess as it most likely spits out little spatters of oil. Not to mention comtaminants. NEVER good to drive without oil cap! You could get away with it for a short while on very OLD oldsmobile engines as they had a filler neck at the front of the engine and it wouldnt "spit" oil....but these days....NO GO on just about every motor! Isnt like the old days where a rag would work!
