Ok guys/girls

Heres the deal..im driving home from my gf house late tonite(1145) n its a pitch black highway..so only the lights from the cars drivin on road r lightin the highway up...car flies past me in high speed lane(white buick) high beams on n everything...i was doin 65..as we cross the border from Mass into RI with a car(white lexus) cruisin bout car length behind me..all of sudden bout 30 seconds into RI i see a cop pull up on side of white lexus behind me n turn flashin lights on n pulls in front of lexus to pull me over!!!!!!!!!! now im pissed cuz i know i wasnt doin anyting wrong..he tells me i was doin 87 in a 55!!! now first off i just bought my TL so i doubt my speedometer is off by 22mph..second off no signs of a cop on side of road at all..meanin he was either hiding or just with his lights off so no one saw him.

I did ask him to see radar readout..he denied me that rite n said by RI state law we dont have to show u anything..he tried actin as if he did me a favor but i told him fastest i was goin was 65 n he said well thas still over speed limit..but when ur goin with flow of traffic(there actually was traffic) so i said whatever..but the problem is i think he radared another car..3 white cars within same vicinity...n he picked one..cuz one was cruisin at my speed..another flew past me...so whas to say he didnt radar them? im tryin to figure out a defense already cuz i aint payin a ticket..for something i didnt do..if i was goin that fast i woulda said fcuk it..ill pay up..but i dont think i have exceeded 65mph in TL yet!

Any suggestions on what i could use in court? and does anyone know for sure that RI state law says u dont have to show u the radar readout?

 

your best best is to get a lawyer. most highway cops are very good at defending summons. it's very hard to beat them in court. good luck.

 

However, radar is a very wide band. It CANNOT be that specific if you are traveling with other cars. As long as you can prove in court that you were surrounded by other cars, you should have it dismissed. Been there done that. But I got a couple of license plate numbers when he pulled in behind me because I knew something fishy was up. I took the ticket and didn't say a word to him. When it went to the pretrial hearing (they do that there) I told the young asst prosecutor that there was no way he could get an accurate reading because of surrounding traffic and here were two cars that could prove it and showed her the license numbers. She dropped it right there.

 

thas the best idea but when there was its dark n it was hard to get plate numbers..but i still remember exact details of cars behind me n beside me n passing me..color, make, etc...so hopefully my detailed story helps me
