I love it when a slower car picks on me
Especially when it's a 60k+ car. I was out doing some X-Mas shopping, then hit the gym. On the way home, coming toward the end of the 30 mph zone, approaching the highway, I see some wide set HID's behind me for a bit, then about 75 yards before the highway, a silver Cadillac STS blows by me. Whatever, I figure maybe he's in a hurry and I just set the cruise at 65 and relax. About a half mile up, he slows way down, so I put on my turn signal to pass. I'm almost to his bumper and he nails it and takes off. Ok, whatever, I get back over and proceed. Then he does the same thing again, only this time he lets me pass. I'm just trying to chill and listen to some Volbeat as I get back over into the right lane. Then I look in my driver's side mirror and see him pulling back out into the passing lane. He's coming on hard, and now I'm more than a little annoyed with this douchebag (especially with about a quart of Starbucks hi-test and some endorphins coursing through my veins) in his father's Caddy, so I drop into third and go. He's still growing in my mirror and pretty close to my back bumper for 2-3 seconds, then I stop his momentum and start to pull. Shift into fourth and keep pulling hard until I bump the rev limiter (oops) and stand on the brakes. Of course he does another flyby and gets back in front of me. He slows down to about 60 and so I pull back out, drop into third and pull alongside. Now I'm the aggressor and I get into the gas a couple times and let off, he waits till I let off then goes. I play catch up for a split second (he got a fender on me) and then pull away easily. He stays back after this one. I think he finally realizes Dad's STS doesn't have a "V" at the end of it. Or who knows, maybe it's actually some old guy with a residual Viagra hard on?
Not sure if it was the V8 or V6. I looked up a couple road tests on the car and oddly, the 320 horse V8 is only a tenth quicker at 14.6 than the 302 horse V6, but they both trap 97 mph. The V8 is about a second and a half quicker to 130. Pretty impressive for the V6, considering it's a two ton car. I trapped 100.7 last Fall, and now with the 3.7 top swap I'm guessing I'm at 101-102.

Lol, went out to do some last minute shopping today and saw him again on the other side of the highway, flying past a pack of cars. I'm just assuming it was him since I doubt there's more than one speed racer driving an STS in my area.

It's even better when it's a relatively expensive upscale car. This was in the same spot a V8 A6 pulled the same trick about a year ago. The STS put up a little better fight than the Audi though.

You probably get harassed by everyone; compact imports with even the slightest aftermarket exhaust note always do. At the track last fall, I was BS'ing with a kid with a SC/bolted Civic SI and he said he always gets picked on. His car seriously moved though. He said he stayed pretty much even with a Coyote 5.0 after some old guy started messing with him on the highway. He said his buddy with a fully bolted Coyote walks him easily though.

anx1300c I have a '95 Honda Accord that does low 13's @ 104 mph in the 1/4 and they picked on me all of the time, I still have it. Now I have 2 TL's and my wife's TL ('05) seem to move faster then my '04... I can't seem to get anybody to pull up next to me. Both are still stock.... future mods to come

I always hated that. Having a 2700 lb Rsti with an fp hta68 turbo I never came across something in my driving that was really even a contest. I live and work (20 mile commute each way) in rich areas. At least a couple times a week I'd come across Porches, Bmw M series cars, Audi S model cars, and random punk kids who thought their cars were fast.
I will say most guys in Porsche's were awesome when they lost. I'd get a big grin and a wave or a thumbs up. Audi guys were probably the worst losers. I might also add that I never started with anyone. It would be a typical bully scenario. I'd be minding my own business and they try to show me how fast their car is. haha.

that's awesome. Like everyone else in this thread, I can't stand people like that.
People are so ignorant and completely indignant, it is quite remarkable.
This fall I had some kid in a 4.6 mustang GT (like an '02 or '03-ish) trying to race me and I ignored him at first because I pull bus lengths on those cars when they are bone stock. We came to a stop light and I told him he'll lose, and he starts spouting off telling me "nuh uh, this is AMERICAN MUSCLE, what do you have in that thing like a 2.0 liter?"
I just shook my head in utter disappointment, first because he thinks THAT particular mustang actually qualifies as american muscle, even though every Mustang from that generation was an insult to american muscle aside from the Cobra and Cobra-R.
You just can't win with these people - they're too stupid to realize how slow their cars are, and that automatically makes me want to stay away from them because I immediately know they have no clue how to drive safely but will probably do something stupid in a pitiful attempt to emulate a Porsche 911 turbo.

I don't get many random encounters, b/c outside of the exhaust and my wheels, and the car is dropped, it looks basically stock. No wing or tints, nothin fancy....the past month or so I've had the most random encounters that I've had in awhile. Lightly bolted S2K, Jetta VR6 and a Civic Si. 95% of my runs are talked about before they happen.
I ran an SI at the track last fall with a Jackson Racing supercharger. Pulled up next to him and never heard any hint of whine. Figured even if he was fully bolted and tuned, I'd still maybe eke out a win. I had him easily to about the 330' marker and he just walked right by me and left me once he hooked. My jaw hit the floor. IIRC, he was trapping around 110. He said he gets picked on all the time, and usually surprises the hell out of people.
Ironically there was an asshat there that day with a Mini Cooper S with a Euro vanity plate on the front that read "K20 killer". They lined up. The Cooper ran like a 15.4 @ low 90's, LOL. The kid with SI's sister was there with a bone stock '12 SI. I told him he should run the Mini guy with that and still beat him.

Yeah, the newer Charger R/T's are a bit quicker than the older ones. I think they're 373 hp vs 340 or 345 of the older ones? Maybe they didn't gain as much weight as the 300C? I could see a stock V6 Camry running with the last gen R/T.
My sister's BF just picked up an '11 300C. Dying to run him. At 363 hp, with the added weight from the re-design, it's really no quicker than the old one, plus he weighs 260 to my 160, lol. I think I'll pull on him from 50+ without too much trouble. He's not the modding type either, so no worries there.

I went up against an '11 Challenger R/T before I had my atlp v2 quads and before I did the 3.7 swap, so about -15 whp from what I have now, and from a dig to about 90 when we shut it down he got about a full car length on me. I was pretty pleased with that outcome considering it took him till 90 mph to inch enough on me to make a full car length.
I'd love to find one to run again - would be curious what you would do against a 300C. At this point I'm really only concerned if I see an SRT-8, in which case I wouldn't bother because it's a pointless race lol

I don't have any major plans for engine mods for my WRX at this time. If anything, I'll eventually get a tune for it. I've got an axleback coming, but it's only a noise maker and butt dyno enhancer (make me feel faster than I'm really going ). This is car is much quicker and slightly faster, mph wise, compared to my G35, even with a soft rolling launch.
My days of worrying about being the fastest car on the road are long gone. I'm interested in handling, looks, and sound now. Modding cars now is far more enjoyable for me now.

When are you going to change your car man? Didn't you say you want the 335i?

nice kill bud i know how you feel i hate when people in there big heavy domestic cars or suv's start thinking there fast just because they have a v8 and start instigating races. i love to put them in there place too.

It's even better when they're in a decently quick car and think they're faster than you... but, like a gentlemen, you demonstrate otherwise.
Not to thread jack, but the other night I pulled up to a red behind a new 911, he still had his "LA Auto Gallery" dealer plate. To his right was a rices out civic with a monstrous "shopping-cart-handle" wing and plenty of "flare" (decals). I knew the Porsche driver wasn't about to let the civic get the best of his new baby, so when he took off hot from the light I was ready. I did instigate this one, I stayed close to his back bumper to goad him into punching it. Sure as sh it, he did. That's when I hit it, 3'rd barked as I went around him and then over in front of him. I'm sure his expression was close to the usual I get when accelerating onto the freeway past someone. It's a combination of *dear in headlights* (so frightened they don't know what to do) and "I just sharted and everyone knows".

I haven't driven the G since 8-5-12 (when I picked up the C, 6 weeks after I dropped it off at the shipping co. in Sindelfingen, Germany). The only reason that the gas hasn't gone bad... I let my girls young cousin and my baby bro take it out on the weekends.

Nice race????
Next time --> get beside him, acknowledge a race, honk 3 times, beat him, slow down, and give thumbs ups.
You would have beaten him even more when you're side-by-side, but it's just more fun that way...

Gotta love them slow Caddys, one toyed with me when I was in my Teggy LS on my way to work one day. The next day I blew the doors off him in 5th in my boosted M3, he had an older Seville STS.
That is one sweet sti supraru.
