Yes, they are... for a lot of different reasons. The car market is suffering now, so there are some really good deals out there. I checked this one over and made sure it had no paint work or previous damage, it was in good shape, etc. So, then I just made sure the price was right. Also, I needed a new car for the job I will be doing. I am going to be driving a whole bunch of miles (around 30k miles per year) so I needed something a bit more reliable than my old car.

Did you get this at Sterling Carmax? I saw this car on-line and it was gone in a day or two. Can you share what you paid and how many miles are on it. Thanks

Yeah it was from that Carmax. I made a request through Carmax.com for a white on black 6-speed, etc. and they got it in a day! As soon as it was there, I put a deposit on it and bought it. There seem to be a good amount of automatics out there (even brand new still), but for 6-speeds, there was one in Maryland. They wanted too much money for it, though ($35k for a used one!!!). The one I got was $29k plus tax, etc. 18k miles on it when I bought it. I am going to be driving a lot with my new job, though... so that is going to climb fast. I've already put almost 1k miles on it!

Yeah, it was a tough find... good luck! Pohanka Acura seems to have a good amount of TL Type-S... you could see if they have a 6 speed now.

Just picked one up yesterday from Pohanka. I went to the Sterling Carmax first and they were only willing to give me $17.5 for my '06 TL, nav, 6 speed with 37k miles. Drove their '07 White/black, auto Type S with 18k miles they wanted $28k for. No deal on either as the car was is good shape but not what I would have bought.

Went to Pohanka where I bought my '06. They gave me in the $20's for my trade and I bought an '07 Type S, white/taupe, auto, 17k miles certified for low $27's. The certification allowed me to get 2 new tires, oil change, new front pads, turned rotors, adjusted calipers and a good detail. I don't mind the auto. Kinda of nice to not always shift gears. Also, the taupe is a great color combo. My last 2 cars were all black interior and I was sick of vacumming dust all the time. No complaints at all.

Congrats on the find! I think I test drove that exact car at some point! I have driven manual all my life, so shifting gears in our traffic doesn't bother me. Plus, I think I drive a bit slower when I am in a manual car (good for less tickets!).

I agree with you 100%. I drove my manual slower off the line always. The auto makes it easier, IMO to drive faster off the line. Just easier I guess. The one I bought already had 35% tint on it so that was a bonus. Is this the one you drove?

One thing disappointed me though was the gas mileage. On my drive from Roanoke to CarMAx (straight shot with no stops) I got 32 or 33 on the MID in my '06 averaging around 80 mph. Love the mpg.

DRive the Type S back and set cruise at 75 and keep it there most of the time and only got 27 (might have been real close to 28 but since whole numbers I don't know exactly). This was disappointing. I would have expected better (l30 - 31 at least). I'll be back up in Fairfax Sunday so I'll fill her up completely and see what it does Sunday. I really hope it improves b/c most of my miles are highway, which it sounds like yours might be, and to maybe loose 5 mpg is a bummer especially if gas goes back up over $4/gallon.

Hmmm... it didn't have tint. So, maybe they had another one come in? I am not sure. Either way...

MPG wise, I got 27 on my first big trip, but that was still with the gas from the dealer. I just filled up with some normal (good) gas, so we'll see how it does with that. I was driving 80 mph the whole time to get 27. That is 8/9 mpg better than my old car at that speed, so I am happy!
