I got hit today when making a left.
Story: Someone ran a red and hit me. I had a green left arrow. I was wearing my seatbelt, Driver airbag deployed, and hurt like hell.
Car is an 05 with 104k and nav. I always had it serviced at Acura too. Nav unit doesn't work. What do you guys think? I'm really hoping its totaled because I don't think it will ever feel right again.

Ouch sorry to hear!
I've had a close call with those people who run red lights (speeding like crazy too) when my left turn arrow is green and I'm the first car in the lane.
Luckily I stop in time, as I always crawl out halfway and watch for those people.
Otherwise, my car would have been damaged just like yours or t-boned
Good luck.

Ouch. I know what you mean about wanting it totaled. I think once the airbags are deployed on a car with more than 100K it's usually a safe bet that they will total it. Hopefully you didn't just do the TB service.

I think that in PA the damages for repairs have to exceed 70% of your vehicle value for the car to be a total loss, being a 2005 and having 104k on it might help to total it, but then you have the navi package which gives your car a better value!!!
hopefully they would total it...

It's totaled, an airbag alone is $3,000 or $4,000 and most bodyshops don't even want to get involved with replacing them. The other damages could be an easy $8,000. When the cost to repair a vehicle reaches 80% of its value ins co will total it. Some will even total a vehicle if it reaches 70%. Looking at the photos I would say that you don't want to repair it. No matter how good a body shop is the car will never be the same, especially the steering.

i can actually write you an estimate at this moment if you want.. just pass on the vin number so i can write it up!!! that way you know what youre looking at when your adjuster goes and writes his estimate.

First and foremost thanks for the kind words and advice
Next..Progressive wants to repair the car. They are 2k away from totalling the car. I'm just waiting on an itemized list to post to see if they missed anything. Over the phone they missed the windshield, and the headlight (of all the obvious things). I'm sure they missed other things.
The car is worth 12.5k according to them so we'll see...
Anyone have any ideas?

Windshield.. is it cracked?
You might be able to have them replace your rashed wheels as well.
I doubt any subframe damage occured since it was so high on the bumper cover and fender well.
We're talking fender, splash shield, bumper cover, lower and upper grills, headlight, hood, hood actuators, ps res, and ww res from what I can see. Biggest issue is whether the side engine mount, strut tower, ps pump or drivebelt took any impact. I saw a car in the shop that was hit from the side. It didn't look that bad but it popped 4 exhaust valves and 2 intake.. I know because I bought the heads off it.

The other driver was cited for running the light.
I'm still waiting to find out if my car is totaled or repairable. Its been a week and both insurance companies are taking their sweet time. I really want this car totaled and I don't want to deal with the surprises that will come up in a few months and when I get rid of it. Any advice guys?

Yea I just got into an accident last week with kind of a similar situation where I tboned a guy, but my airbags did not deploy and had front end damage with radiator and ac condenser needing to be replaced.
My estimate came out to 5300 with aftermarket inside parts. I fought for OEM parts and the collision center is price matching to install all OEM parts. You estimate seems way too low for a back to orginial repair.
If they are going to fix it up... Make sure you scrutinize that estimate. Progressive rates are cheapER for a reason.

I took the car to the Acura and I'm having a lawyer deal with everything.
They're using all non-oem parts and claim that the car needs of 11 hours of labor total to get it back to what it was. I'm sick of dealing with progressive... I'll be switching regardless of whatever happens. I'll also be dumping the car as soon as its fixed to. This accident was a freaking nightmare.

From my experience working in a body shop I can tell you that the time they are giving you to repair it is way too little. And also since they are all non oem parts if you fixed the car and then you want to sell it I can tell you that you won't get what you would like to get. What you can do is visit a couple of body shops and ask them if they would replace your parts all oem. And then take the shops information to your insurance. Hopefully they would let you replace all the parts with oem ones!!!

I think whether the parts are OEM or non-OEM is up to the insurance company, some will replace your parts with non-OEM ones. And remember the quote can always go higher and higher once the car is torn down and a complete list is made.
Good luck.
