I did it!

I traded my SSM/Quartz 5at/navi for a Anthracite/Ebony 6mt/navi. I just drove it home.

My VIN is in the 69XXX. The suspension is much better. It handles better. The steering is a little tighter. The beep when you lock your doors sounds much louder. The engine sound when you accelerate sounds more sporty.

Congratulations

You got your dream car...

6mtV6 -> 6mt5AT now -> 6mt again

What is your original 5AT Vin?

Would you like to tell us price difference??

I think they only have some difference between 5AT and 6MT, like sway bar (handling will be better), Brembo(enhance braking power), LSD, ....

I rather not say what I got for the trade in and deal. I'm sorry.
I'm friends with the sales manager. He gave me a pretty good deal.

My 5at VIN is in the 39XXX.
I know I should've waited for the 7speed, 271hp. LOL

The very things I realized between the 2 models when I test drove them, that is, except for the beep. You're so excited, you forgot to mention better braking as well. It can almost pass as the 04's Type-S. As a fellow Amoco Ultimate lover, wait till you see how this one runs on it once its broken in.

Now all you have to do is trash the Bullshitstones and kick its handling and your driving enjoyment up another notch!

Congrats and Welcome to the 6MT community !!!!

Congrads! I know you are still breaking her in but do you notice any difference in the brakes between the auto and the 6spd in terms of pedal effort, feel, modulation and "grabbyness"? Thanks.

I haven't really noticed any difference in the braking. I probably just have to drive more.

The blue TL is nice also. It was either the black, anthracite, or blue. I chose the anthracite.

Thanks caball88.

Welcome. You new car is the same as mine Anthracite/Ebony 6MT/Nav. I've never looked back or wished for another version. I DO admit that the black looks super, but I'm not one bit sorry for having bought the anthracite.

And as far as the manual over the automatic, there was never a consideration for the auto for me. I wouldn't own a personal driving machine with an automatic transmission.

Congrats!

If you're not going to tell us prices could you at least tell us how many miles your original had and how much money you lost?

Yes and no. The power mirrors were cool and I did use them when pulling in the garage. I kinda wish the TL had them. The heated steering wheel was BARELY noticable; no great loss. The steering wheel was also pwr tilt and telescoping and was linked to the memory seat function. This was nice, but not a neccessity.

As for the Max vs. TL, the TL is a much nicer car; the build quality, fit & finish, etc. are just in a different league. While it doesn't have the torque that the Max had, the TL is much more pleasureable to sit in and drive. The steering is more responsive too!

Cool, thanks for the comparison. I liked the features in the Maxima, but do not like three spoke steering wheels.

I loved the cornering lamps on my 96 Maxima SE 5MT and love that they are back in 2004.

How do you mean you lost 3K. Do you mean thats how much $$ you lost with the trade in.

How much of the better handling do you think is a function of the larger front and rear stabilizer bars?
