I can't believe this sh*t

i've had my car for 4 days... i drive my car to go eat lunch and my f-in interior roof paneling is slumping down over my head. This is so ridiculous... this should not happen for a 35k car thats BRAND spankin new... actually not even for ANY car... and when i looked into it.. they had used one 2 inch by 2 inch double sided tape to hold it up. I called the dealer that i bought my car from and said to go to the nearest dealer and they'll have it fixed. Freakin ridiculous. So no i have to take it in after work and get a loaner for a day. They better wash and waxed that piece of shit... i'm pretty mad rite now.

obtw, the website looks awesome. and some of the smiley faces are not working.

have a great day!

oh man i feel bad, its absolutely unacceptable to have that problem on a brand new car. the fit and finish on these cars should have higher standards.

First off, some interesting spelling and colorful language there. Secondly, this is an issue many here have experienced, so a search may reveal some insight for you. Thirdly, I would personally not alow the dealer to wash/wax as the problem with the headliner may become a problem with swirl marks!

when i take my car in for servicing i request that they do not wash or detail my car. i hate swirl marks and everytime they wash it they tend to add some more. i am so anal i actually mark up my car with small amount of wax just to make sure they didn't wash my car.

Don't get me wrong, I think the TL is a great ride but there is a reason they can sell a car with the features it has for the price they are charging. It sounds like they have cut a few corners in order to be in the under $35K. I've never owned a car that has had a cheap installation like that. The company knows that using double sided tape to hold up roof panel isn't high quality but they must have thought it made sense from a cost standpoint so they went with it. Reminds me of my Bro's piece of crap chevy suburban. Two days after buying it we closed the door and the dome light and all the wiring fell out.

Sounds like quality has not improved, they had this issue the first month of production. Don't they read the reports comming in and adjust?

You should not pay ANYTHING at all...in fact, make sure to demand a nice, free rental car.

My headliner drooped after 6 weeks. Of course they fixed it for free. I did not get filled up either.

Not a penny!

I should have known when I test drove my car when I picked it up the glove box and drivers window rattled, it was in the shop while I was signing the papers.

There has to be 30 things wrong with my car since I got it, they need to get it right soon!

Is it possible the dealer selling you the car was using that double-sided tape to hold it up? I'm not sure if mine has this double-sided tape behind, but your case looks like your original dealer "made up" after they found out it's falling down in the lots...

I sure hope the folks at Acura are reading this forum. They should be embarassed. It sounds like they need to start over and redesign the headliner. Or perhaps they have a bad supplier (most car companies outsource a lot of their parts). It would not surprise me if the '05 model has a lot of these issues fixed.

if you push it and it goes up and down quite freely, its loose, it SHOULD be real snug to the sunroof door (the cloth cover you push so you cant see the sunroof window) to the naked eye it seems fine, but like i said, if you push it with your finger and it moves quite freely, its loose... I can't believe they only used 1 piece of double sided tape to hold it there

Has a pic been posted of this? Is the part that sags towards the back of the sunroof. For example, when the sunroof and its shade are closed, is it at the back of the sunroof where rear-passenger seating begins? Or is it at the front where the roof meets the windshield?

Cool Should I re-consider?

Hey guys,

I have this car on order. Here this shi*t makes me think twice about my decision. Are they using these 33 cent tapes to hold the entire roof panel?

Also, Are they using this high tech method for all 2004 TL or just early production models?

How many other people complained about this? FINALLY, what did the DEALER do to fix it??? Some more tape is obviously not a solution

Thanks.
