I am over reacting, or is this unacceptable? (new tails question)
Recently ordered a pair of new 07-08 type S tails from an Acura parts website/vendor. I open up the boxes to find the tails are not sealed in their own bags, but just laying in shredded cardboard un-bagged. Am I being unrealistic in thinking that my brand new tails should have arrived in sealed bags without tiny bits of cardboard stuck inside the lamp housings?
In addition one of the tail lights has lots of tiny scuffs/marks, not sure what caused it but I couldn't get it to wash off... And both have quite a few little tiny pieces of cardboard stuck inside of them that are visible looking into the tail light. (pics below- cardboard was difficult to photograph)
I feel like asking for an exchange isn't an unreasonable request, what do you guys think? Can anyone who has purchased new tails in the past chime in on how they were packed?
(how they looked before blowing off the packing dust/cardboard particles)
(scuffs/marks on the outside of the plastic/lens...)
(cardboard pieces inside)

I would DEFINITELY get a refund.
You are correct in thinking tails are usually sealed in bags. (They're open on one end, but still...)

I wouldn't be a dick about it but I would definitely ask for an exchange. Tell them you feel you didn't get new tails and you paid for new tails. Even if they claim that they in fact are new, just explain politely that what you found when you opened the box, such as pieces of cardboard and such inside the actual lenses.

If these are supposed to be o.e., I'd be really skeptical. The most recent taillights I've gotten from honda were tightly plastic wrapped to a solid piece of cardboard inside the box. It was real secure, with no chance of getting scuffed, and no shredded cardboard to get all over the place.

Like everyone else said ask for refund and exchange for "new" ones

Which vendor did this? That's something we should know so we can make an informed decision when ordering...Also will be interested in hearing how said vendor reacts to/handles your concerns. Keep us updated...

I'd be furious If I opened up a package like this. Justice needs to be served! #'MERICA

So I spoke with the vendor today and was informed the dust is normal. He said I could try to blow it out with an air hose... Not having an air compressor, I tried once with a can of compressed air but it didnt help at all.
Just to clarify:
-only one of the tails had the scuff marks, and the vendor offered to replace this tail light.
-both tails have dust in them.
-one tail light came in an unsealed plastic bag (he didnt know what was up with that, but I'm thinking it may have been repackaged when they threw in the the other random parts I ordered)
-one tail came saran wrapped to cardboard (no bag) so it was suspended during shipping, which I assume protects it during transit. Vendor informs me this is the way they come from Acura.
The vendor alternatively offered to send call tags and refund both... The amount of dust in these is going to bug me if I keep them, so Im going to accept his offer for a call tag and refund.
I am curious if anyone else who has purchased oem tails for their TL can confirm if they came saran wrapped, unsealed in bags, or sealed? Maybe different manufacturing dates/time had different methods? I dont know what to do now though, I want some new tails, but I don't want to order another pair from a different vendor and be faced with the same issue.
Heres one more pic showing all the dust inside (the one I showed to the vendor):
The dust on the top edge is removable since its on the back edge, but everything else is stuck in there.

Think of it this way as well,
They probably unpacked your lights from the original packaging to save you on shipping costs. The oem boxes for our taillamps are ridiculously huge, and while offering the protection, you could probably get just as much from putting them both in a single box with generous bubble wrap/protection.

Depends on how picky you really are.
As for the scuff marks, use a plastic polish on it like PlastX (also used for headlight restoration).
It should get rid of imperfections.
As for the dust inside, do you have any plans to mod the tail lights?
If yes, get them modded and cleaned out from inside.
If no, get refund because it will bother you.

If the company you had ordered them from was credible, the tails should have come in plastic bags or even styrofoam to prevent damage.
I'd contact them with pictures and at least get some money back, if not a complete refund.
