Post I also went to the dealership today

So I went for my first oil change since I got the car in

I asked September ('04 SSM, 5AT, @ 31,000 miles currently, bought at 24,000 miles).

Oil change was $29.99 which I thought was cheap. And I did the drain and fill as well and not sure I'd ever have them do that again for only there quarts. Anyways, I got some interesting info.

I asked the service guy to.quote me a price for the pressure switches (I don't have a lift) and if it was reasonable, I'd consider it. He went on to give me a small lecture about how pointless and a "waste of money" this mod was. He explained how in the seven years he's been a service advisor, he's only had about four customers with bad grants and how the entire dealership probably had a total of 40 in that same time frame. He said the grants from the second generation.failed at a higher rate.than the 3rd gen. So I let it go cause I'm still a ways away from the mileage to.replace these. He didn't forget to mention that I'm due for the 30,000 service that ran for about $300.

So when he called me up to let me know the car was ready, he said that I had two broken motor mounts that will run $600.

The only good news was that it turns out that the dealership replaced the dashboard in August prior to the previous owner trading it in right before I bought it.

I'm curious as to what the board has to day about all this.

Which dealership did you went? Esserman Acura? You only do the 3/4th pressure switches every 50k mileage as preventative maintenance. Also you are getting 30k which is time to change the ATF, Brake Fluid, Steering Fluid, Cabin Filter and Air Filter.

BTW dont go OEM ATF and go Redline D4 this time.

And 29.99 for oil change? This expensive imo and I'm doing everything by DIY maintenance of my car at home thank to acurazine vast of information about DIY.

Im sure other fellow aziner will fill more info for you.

$29.99 isn't bad for an oil change. My dealership charges $40. I would do it myself, but I need documentation for the warranty I got. (lifetime engine warranty as long as I follow Acura scheduled maintenance and have documents.)

2 broken motor mounts at 31,000 miles? I call bull shit.

I don't understand why the FUCK dealerships lie to their customers just to get money out of them. I'm going to school for automotive technician and I know for damn sure when I graduate and work for a dealership or open my own shop in the future that i'm going to be the most honest technician out there.... None of this "we did your oil change, but we also noticed _______ was broken. You'll need to get it fixed, it'll cost $XXX.XX" bullshit.

Pisses me off so much when I hear things like that, but yet I hear it ALL THE TIME. Dishonest bastards.....

aftermarket motor mounts. $300.

They're full of shit if they're saying you need to have all maintenance done by an Acura dealership in order to keep the warranty in force. You can go indy or do your own work; just retain receipts.

They didn't say it has to be done by Acura. They said it has to be maintained to acuras specs and have documentation. I'm having it done at Acura out of peace of mind.

SC, I'd get another Service Writer!

First, he has NO business lecturing you. You simply asked about the price-you didn't ask for the dealership history on this item.

And I agree with Vietx-broken motor mounts at 31,000 miles???? Take it to another dealership and get a 2nd opinion.

Word!!!

Got some words of advice from my brother in law (not a mechanic but very familiar with cars) and he said the same things you guys said. He also said at the worst case scenario, if the mounts are broken then I can ride with them for a but cause I really don't feel any "symptoms". He's also willing to help me change the brake and power steering fluid to save money.

I'm still super excited to know that my dash was.replaced before me!

Oh and thanks for the heads up in those aftermarket mounts. Once I decide to get them fixed then that's the route I'm taking. Thanks.

Where in South Florida are you ?

Acura of pembroke pines service department is awesome. You should definitely try over there and about your mounts. I would buy them online from DELRAY ACURA, they have the best prices for OEM ACURA PARTS and no tax and big discount. And then get the mounts replaced by your friendly neighborhood mechanic who you TRUST !

ALSO, South Floridians, always check for OIL CHANGE coupons on Acura of pembroke pines and Rick Case Acura's website. I am subscribed and I get 24.99 oil changes with free car washes (inside/out with tire dressing) and also washer fluid fill up and all fluid level check !

trust me ... its not hard to get good deals ;-)

West Palm Beach in the hizzzouse!! lol

Napleton's Palm Beach Acura is the dealer. I went there cause I just got the car three months ago and according to the carfax, the car was purchased there in 2004 and ALLLLL the service has been done there. So I'm thinking that if I keep going there, then there's a slight chance they'll goodwill something whenever something drastic happens.
