you dont have to get it really, but when its the middle of the night and its raining and there are no street lights or other cars on the road and you cant see the road paint because Michigan roads suck and the road is curvy and you are not in your usual part of town...anything could happen. i am well aware of the dangers of driving through a lake, but when that lake is invisible and is in the same place a road should be, again, very bad things can happen.

I normally drive half paranoid/super careful watching every inch of the road because I am lowered. Yeah I can't be perfect, I hit some bad potholes etc. every once in awhile. But I don't take chances on puddles. I CRAWL. I'll even stop and open the doors midway to judge the depth And if it even seems like a chance I go around somehow. All the other cars will speed through like morons and bitch me out. And that seems typical behavior, most people just aren't careful enough.
If you have a CAI you can't be too careful. Is it annoying? Yeah sometimes, but I knew that when I installed my mods. It's a good trade-off for all the benefits you have from a V2 though. I'll put up with the hassle. Sorry to hear about that to the OP. It's an expensive lesson!

Update: Acura muraculously was able to dry and fix the car by this evening. So I guessing the next couple of days are gonna be interesting. I did have oil flushed twice and new plugs put in. They said it needed to be re-compressed? I dunno.
and to the dude above saying were crazy at night to drive in weather and water by water we misjudge. It's called camoflaged. Ever drove on black ice?

just know that there is the potential that your engine could die at any point. mine was the same way. fixed and back on the road for 3 months, then i blew a rod through the block on my way to work. not to scare you, just sending you out the warning. i had a compression test which came out good, but the problem still happened.
