How's your TL in the Snow??
just wondering how everyones TL'S are doing in the snow...my 07 Type S seems to handle way better than my 05....probably because the o7 is a standard....i should probably get skinnier tires...235's are way too wide for snow...

Don't feed the...WTF?
I drove my TL last winter, and it actually handles suprisingly well as long as you don't get any more than 3-4 inches of snow.
This winter I opted for a $200 blazer (with working 4x4 by the way... couldn't pass)
I'm keeping both vehicles insured though so on those cold ass winter days where it's even too cold to snow - I can still use the seat warmers

We haven't had much snow in the Cleveland area yet, but this morning there was a mixture of slush and a glaze left over from melting freezing rain. The TL gave me no surprise. Last winter, after I got Bridgestone Pole Positions the car did much better in snow then with the OE El 42's. I too hate to take the TL out in slop but I have no choice, next winter I will be retired and the car will stay in the garage on snowy days.

My first gen. actually handled really good today in the snow. Today where I live in New England we got like 5-7" of snow and when I got out of school there was already like 2-3" on the ground and it did really good. It is staying covered though until probably Tuesday or Wednesday of next week because I don't want to take any chances with it.
P.S. We are suppose to be getting an even bigger storm on Sunday into Monday!!

Drove my TL in the snow once only so far, it felt great! Even if I kept the stock all season's on it, it handles like a charm, I don't feel sliding at all. Even if I were to pull the e-brake it wasnt easy to get it sideways.
But, I still like my Subie in the snow better.
It handles the snow like it was dry out!

And since cars don't heal, I'd rather be comfortable in the knowledge that it is protected from whatever evils may befall her.
And then there is the salt and chemical mix and sand with which the counties see fit to layer the road surfaces and therefore, the vehicles. Don't want all of that crap on my TL, either. So in the winter when we do get snow, sometimes it's a week before I get to drive my TL again and it kills me to have to wait that long.

My 04 MT is great in the snow. It’s shod with Bridgestone Blizzaks in 235/45 17s - I don't have any issues with them being too wide. The only issue I have is how aggressively the TC cuts in and out. It's like an on/off switch, but it gets the job done so I can't complain too much.

So far here in snowy/slushy Colorado my brand new TL, bone stock, has been pretty good. The VSA kicks in pretty quickly and aggressively when taking off from a stop. Cornering feels good, as does braking. If I was smart I'd buy a second set of wheels with snow tires, but for now I'm going to just drive it as is...

In Search Of Sunrise....
I just put on a set of yoko Avid W4S about a week ago on my 3rd gen... We had about 14" of snow last night and they did fairly well. Dry traction is great, but wet traction could definitely use some improvement.
I had Conti extreme contacts on my 2nd gen TL.. Those tires were EXCELLENT in the snow.. Not so great on dry surface...

I found that the VSA is sometimes a PTA when you have good winter tires... I just simply turn it off when I know I dont need it. If I leave it ON, it takes forever to go after a STOP.
Oh and I have the 6sp , YOKO IG20 235/45/17 on stock rims. JUST LOVE MY CAR even during winter....

I had the WS-50's on my '04. My '07 TLS has the new WS-60's. I got caught in a pretty severe snow storm a few days ago, and it handled incredibly. Not as good as my AWD Explorer, but MUCH better with the WS-60's than with the stockers. Oh yeah... my TLS is MY Winter beater also.

i got to work an hour ago and it was terrible..my tl however is pretty good but lately it seems the vsa can get sensitive and kick when you normally wouldnt think it should...a bit off topic guys, any recommendations on a part. tire that is all season while being very good in snow as here in cleveland area it gets reallllly badd like today was, ive got the bridgestone el42 stock tires and im sure there is a much better tire for the bad winter weather we get while still being all season.

The 07 type s manuals have limited slip. Wouldn't that help? Boston got nailed w about a foot of snow. Did fine until I got to hill about a mile from my house. Spinning like crazy and going nowhere (07 type s manual). I got lucky and a plow/sander passed me. I assume the stock michelins are worse than most all season tires

Goodyear A/S F-1's
I've got a 2005 Tl w/six speed and 36k miles. Installed Goodyear all season F1's this fall and I've got about 6k miles on them. They work great in ice, snow, and slush as well as in rain. We just had a bunch of all that stuff for the past two weeks. The original EL-42's were junk. I would recommend the Goodyear's to anyone that needs to drive their car year around in all kinds of weather.
2005 TL six speed
2003 TLS auto (wife's) 66k miles; Goodyear RS/A's (work well also)

Luckily a pickup in front of me was exiting and bashed most of the wall down, but I could definitely feel the snow high siding the bottom of the car in spots. the WS-50s dragged its low ass through however.
