Don't do it unless you want to see how the air bag works. I would be very careful.

just make sure you disconnect the battery first. then there are 3 access covers one on each side and one on the bottom. there are two torx bolts holdind the bag on. one from each side i think the size is t25. there is a yellow connector on the the bottom of the wheel which you must also disconnect.

I agree. There have ben lots posts on this particular rattle and most agree this is a rattle to let the dealer fix. I generally fix all my rattles but this one I'm going to let the dealer try.

with the battey disconnected there is no way the bag will go off. im not sure why everyone is scared. the bag needs power to go off. if you disconnect the battery than the bag is a dud.

The link doesn't work, so I don't know if this info is in it, but the service manual says to disconnect the negative battery cable and wait at least 3 minutes before starting work.

not true, the bag keeps acurrent for a minute or so after you disconnect it. thats the reason they say to leave the battery unplugged for about 5 minutes. i've pulled airbags from my own car a few times, and not once has it gone off (i also do not wait, i just unscrew the 2 screw, unplug the yellow connector, and put it on the side)
