Well, I got stopped twice in the matter of five days and issued three tickets. I have 20% tints by the way.

Yeah, I've had them on for about 6 months now and only recently started getting pulled over. Now I'm contemplating whether I should just remove the tints entirely or get lighter tints.

Never in 10 years and I drive in NYC constantly. However I got a tint ticket 2x, but that's because they pulled me over for speeding and issued tint tickets instead to be nice. 15% all around. Previous cars had 20% all around. And I had windshields tinted.

EDIT: It just dawned on me.. I bet they are pulling people over more for petty shit now to generate money for the city due to the economy. Makes sense.

Clearly depends of where you live (drive), each state has different laws and a different stance on tint. I have 20% all around and have been pulled over once in 6 months, no ticket given just a warning to get them removed. One interesting point is if you drive out of your normal state you need not worry as the visiting state can't enforce their laws on an out of state driver.

i had tints for 3-4 years. first 2 years i had 30% all around. Never got pulled. After, i decided to go darker to 20% all around. never got pulled over as well. I got pulled over couple times for other reasons, but they never pointed out my tints :P

Uhm... yes they can and they do enforce them, regardless of what state you live in.

To the OP, 90% of the cop cars here in SO Indiana have blacked out windows, so it's kind of hard to enforce something that they're doing themselves, so the don't mess with any tint down here. Kind of like following a police car doing 70 in a 55... as long as his lights aren't on, that is.

Cool

I have been stopped about 5 times for tint! But it quit happening when I took off the clear plastic cover from my license plate. I had that on because it was rimmed in about 1/2 inch of black plastic. In which I did notch it out for the Laser antenna. Made it so you couldn't see it, even if you were standing right there. Worked great!!

Seems as though I can get away with the tint, if I don't have the plates covered in any way! I do have a prescription from my doc. for the tint though. That is the only reason I still have it on. My tint is 30% all the way around. Well not the windshield! That is clear, for UV protection. I have no dash - cracks, so I guess it's working. My car does it share of sitting in the sun. So There It Is!

Never got stopped, but got a ticket twice in the CTA parking lot. Thankfully, it was only 25 dollars.

I have 10% and was pulled over shortly after I purchased the car because the cheap paper temp tag was in my back window and a cop couldn't see it. Just got a warning though. Hopefully I won't be bothered again!!

I wish they had a 40% flavor.

50% just doesnt cut it, and I find 30-35% a little to dark.

I live in Wi and have been driving around with 35% on the fronts and backs. I was pulled over once for speeding but he never said anything about the tints. Here the legal limit is 50% fronts and 35% back. I went with the 35% all around for it to look more uniform. So far no problems!! (6 months with the tints.)

Fuken pigs. hahaha thats messed up. they would say something about the tent for like 2 mins then change the subject and ask to search my car because they saw the nice interior.

oh yeah and never actually had to pay a fine. one was a warning and the other i got signed by my buddy who's a cop (that's the law in MI. if you take it off and have an officer sign off on it the fine gets waived).

I had 5% all around (windshield also tinted, but not 5%). 2 years and not a single issue, one rainy day and a dick bike cop later, I've got a ticket for each individual tinted window. Needless to say, the tints were removed before I even got back onto the main road (there was a tint place in the plaza I pulled into). I plan on getting 25% all around soon, summer heat in miami+no tints=leather oven. I think my seatbelt branded me the other day =/.

I got stopped once, the cop even pulled out the meter. The funny thing is that the sun was already down. The cop said that my tint was legal but the fact of the matter is that its not haha.

32 Front, 23 Rear.. 6 months and counting no tickets yet, knock on wood..

One time at night a police cruiser pulled right next to me at a red light. I was really worried he would look over and notice how dark my driver side window was. He had already pulled up so I thought if I rolled down my windows at that time it would look suspicious.

Well luck was with me cause the officer glanced over at my car looked it up an down and sped off when the light turned green. Hopefully, all future encounters will end this way.

I live in the LA region btw.

I guess the police are more lenient where you guys are cause I got stopped 3 times in a matter of 3 months with 20% all around. Was warned twice and the last time had to pay the fine and take them off. Going to fet them re-done soon anyway.

I alway's get pulled over but rarely get a ticket. The town who's crime rate is -10 just have nothing better to do and most drug/weapon arrest's start with a tint stop.

Had this car for about 7 months now. Got stopped 3 times for tint with the first one being my worst pulled over experience ever. All 3 times I got stopped it was because I was the only car on the road and it was late in the evening. First time about 1AM, second time 2AM, and the one I got last week was at 4:30 in the morning.

I've had the car for about 6 months and only recently started getting pulled over for tints. Every time I get pulled over I'm in Queens around the same times as you. Did you get issued tickets any of those times you were stopped?
