Oh, the Navi will still work- sort of. If you are in an area with strong signals and no interference, it will probably be mostly accurate most of the time...
But more and more threads are being started by folks who are having glitches with their Navi or inaccurate routing. Metallic tint? Could be.

I have metallic and have no interference ... how do I know this? I have regularly tracked satellite connections on my Nav .. before and after application of film.
Around my usual route I regularly track between 6 and 8 satellites at any given time. This past weekend in Northern NY I was tracking 10. There has been NO noticeable degradation in my case.
I will say, however, that I am sure interference is in a direct negative correlation to the quality of film used. I am sure the cheaper brands of film could cause problems.
What kind of problems?? Well, since the only thing you would be interfering with would be the reception strength of satellite signal, the only impact should be general position of your vehicle. If the map is not showing you in the right place at the right time, you may be experiencing some interference. That interference would not cause the Navi to route you into a concrete median (that's simply a software issue where the road is not correctly mapped)
Oh, and by the way, $180. 20% Formula One Ultimate (metallic) on everything but the windshield.

Eventhough a lot of people say they have had no problems with the metallic and the navi, I am still gonna go with the ceramic. I typically have bad luck and I'll be in that 50% who do have problems and then it'll cost more to get the metallic removed and replaced with ceramic. I'm willing to pay a little more, but I still think $400 is too much.
Still looking for someone who has dealt with Sunbusters and curious as to what you were charged.

It worked just fine sitting in my passenger seat of my old car which had metalic tinted windows. Picked up an average of 6 satelites as good. I believe all it needs is three. I would expect the Acura nav to work better, I'll post once I get my car back.

Glad to see everybody sharing. It would have helped if you stated ceramic/metallic but there is a nice range.
One thing I can sure tell is that my quote for P1 Pinnacle Ceramic ($494) for all doors, rear window and felt is WAY to high. They do nice work but I don't need it that bad. I might have to take a road trip for a better price.

I'm wondering if I should even bother with tints.. I do live in an area that can get quite hot, but I guess the heat just doesn't bother me enough. On the other hand, will having a tint help preserve the condition of the leather? If so, then I see that to be more of a reason to get the tint.

It Ranges in new jersey but the basic price your gonna get is 150-250. i can tell you right now that if your in the essex/morris county area theres a place on route 10 near home depot that will do it for 179 they are having a special or something, the place is called illusions. you could also go to StreetEffectz hes close to us about an hour or so away, i believe he charges 200-250. theres also a place i think is west orange/lewelyn park area, called Tropics Tinting, they charge 250, but they cut the rubber inserts of ur front windows on the inside so the tint won't scratch. hope this helps

$300 sounds a bit on the high side. If you're gonna pay that much make sure to get a lifetime warranty and keep your receipt. Also, some film companies like Madico give a certificate when their film gets installed. The Cert gives an install/warranty #. Keep that as well and you should be able to go to any Madico dealer (or whomever the tint mfr is) in the future for replacement.

I can hold it up to a side window and improve things, but it doesn't like the metal roof. It doesn't work good inside a sedan.

I've even dropped it by accident behind my backseat and still no problems even picked up 6 satellites. I Suppose it all depends on the metals in the car. And it's possibility of matching up and interfering with the wavelength of the frequencies for gps. I know my friend had a similar gps setup and had problems in his jeap no matter where he but his gps.
