As some of you might have read I busted my bumper while driving. I am contemplating buying a used stock bumper, or fixing the bumper and getting the a-spec lip, or getting a type S front end. How much do you think it is going to cost in order to do the type-s conversion on the front, fog lights and all?

The other thing that I can do like I said above, is to have a body shop fix the bumper as best as they can and then buy the a-spec lip to cover up any imperfections that may still be there. The damage isn't that bad so I was thinking of going that route but I noticed a few people on this forum with the conversion and was thinking that it might just be better to go with the type s. I wanted to know from both the financial perspective and look wise, which is better. Thanks for your help ahead of time.

 

like $600 cuz u need to get it painted and u need a new grille and thats not with the lip

 

I got a guy that does paintwork so really cheap at my job and does great work. So the bumper and grill alone would be how much?

 

Depends if you can get a local dealer to give you a little discount on the bumper.

local dealer:
Bumper: 300-330 ish

online discounted parts:
Grille Center Parts: 100 ish
Lower Grilles: 60-70 ish

The whole OEM nose conversion cost some coin though. The fog housings are about 275-300 aftermarket OE type, OEM is 400-450. Then you still need bulbs and wiring if you want to keep you 04-06 fogs in OEM operation.

 

all the parts for the grille will probali be $140 bumper is like $250 and fogs would be like $200 for aftermarket

 

oh w8 and plus u will also need the housing for the fog which i like another $50 plus the two silver trim is like another $20

 

Sounds like I should fix it and buy a lip kit.

 

Yeah I did the conversion, did all the labor/paintwork myself, and still it was not cheap. Everything really adds up. I also installed a Base A-spec lip though, and a HID kit.

 

If I were you, I would first post on the BM to see if anyone has it for sale. Than if not, you can find one in a junk yard or buy a new LIP at the Acura dealership for $327 + tax and get it painted by whoever you want.

 

I have two people who are willing to sell their bumpers but I have a feeling I don't really need one. That's how much a lip is? Isn't the whole kit like 700-800 or something?

 

Online vendors sell the lip cheaper than that, shipped.

I bought mine for under 300 shipped, I want to say it was around 280 ish shipped from hondaacuraworld.

The part also comes painted.
