How much should I pay?
How much should I pay?
after doing a lot of research, findng that acuras holdback is 3%...giving them a fair dealer profit of 3% which i think is fair b/c i'm going to get all services, inspections, everything done there...my the price i came up with was 32,486 sale price for a 6MT w/Nav.
i'm pretty set @ this price (whch includes dest. charge but not tax tag title...cause this will be different for each of us purchasing in different states). i refuse to pay the 400 dollar doc fee, they don't deserve 400 dollars for the 30 min. of paperwork they have to do.
i called the dealer i want to buy from (he was cool and let me drive the test car hard) and gave him my price. he said it was impossible that their cost was 31575 (invoice) and when they get the car they had to change the oil...do an inspection...detail it bla bla...maybe 2 hours worth of work, all of 100 at the most. he told me that cost them 950...then he told me the cost of the protection package (wheel locks, trunk tray, spash gaurds, all season floor mats) was 450 bucks (our cost is ~370)
anyway he offered me the car for 33,700 which is more than a grand over what i was shooting for. i believe i will call him back tom. and tell him i'm willing to buy an 05 @ that price.
What do you guys think? Am I being unreasonable w/my price? Its def. low but for a car soon to be replaced by a better tighter fewer flawed version (vibrations should be fixed, better tires, auto on/off headlights, the auto off passenger airbag....) which will prly cost me a little less on insurance b/c of the added safety features, and only has an msrp 250 greater than the 04 i should be able to get it @ that price.

sounds about right for an 05...
Sounds about right for an 05... problem is that dealers will tell you about the supply & demand crap...
Ask quotes for the NY area, fly up on a one-way ticket (Jet Blue) and pick up the car in one day and drive back down
Only thing is to register your car in your state...
Insurance prem will probably won't change much from a 04.

thanks, what are they going for in the NY area?
One of my best friends from HS works in NYC and have been looking for an excuse to visit him. The car is fantastic and worth the MSRP...but the negotiation is half (ok, maybe 1/4) of the fun of buying a new car...there is a little rush when you know you got a really good deal.
