Insurance is similar, states are different, areas within a state differ, and not only selected coverage differs between individuals, but the limits make a world of difference.

As an example in Jersey, the Basic mandatory coverage:
Bodily Injury Liability-None
Property Damage Liability-$5,000 per accident
Personal Injury protection-$15,000 per person, per accident
Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist-None
Comprehensive-None
Collision-None

This could probably be had for about $500/year, but if one were to elect the “No threshold”, add a million dollar limit along with the addition of Comp and Collision as I have, the cost rises rapidly. One must compare policies to guarantee exact coverage as the full coverage critera in meaningless without listing all the bells an whistles.

Doesn’t hurt to call various companies to receive a quote, but make certain each company is supplying a quote for the exact same coverage that you’re requesting.

nokkieny 04-12-2012 06:56 AM

24 yrs old no points or tickets within 7 years. $60/month, maximum liability only, uninsured motorist and personal injury. we will see what happens when i turn 25 in 4 months it dropped a little for this 6 months hopefully more for the next

evonam 04-12-2012 07:20 AM

I'm 30. No points on my license.

Company: NJ manufacturer's ( the best you can get in jersey)
2006 TL 6spd -
$682 a year full coverage

parasitius 04-12-2012 07:40 AM

Geico. 2007 TL-S, age 29. About $47/month for 100,000/300,000. (Does any one know if TL-S and TL rates are different? I'm curious!)

Kind of depressed, when I "added" to my Corolla plan it was only $39/month extra. I had no idea when I dropped the Corolla (sold it) the rate for the TL-S would jump up to $47

Never busted by police before

Wow that is awesome rate. Mine is super high, probably given where I live (NYC).

Age: 24
Insurance: Geico, full coverage
No tickets/points
$216 monthly

Undying Dreams 04-12-2012 08:12 AM

I'm 18, my mom and dad are drivers, we have my TL (full), mom's Suburban (full), and my dad's 2 S10s. (not full). It's close to $600 a month. When I drove the S10 and then TL wasn't on the policy it was $350. [Yes, adding the TL made it go up $250 more per month.]

Edit: Insurance through Progressive, my dad has a few tickets and I got one but went through the online stuff to keep the points off my license.

losiglow 04-12-2012 08:21 AM

Pay about an even $100/month w/ USAA for two vehicles, '06 TL, '02 Sienna, comprehensive/collision on both, $100k/$300k, $500 deductible. Rental reimbursement, towing, yadda yadda. I live in a little town in Utah where I think the most severe crime was some kids egging a house or something. My wife thinks I'm a little paranoid that I'm always locking doors and windows. Grew up in socal. Old habits die hard.

Of course, multi-car discount.. But I have never understood this anyways.. So you have liability only, you are the sole driver(assumption) and you have two cars insured, shouldn't the rate be basically the same? You can only drive one car at a time and thus only have one wreck at a time, so why would the price almost double for two cars..
I suppose you could go ram someone with one car and than walk home and ram someone with the other car.. In that case would your limits be independent of each vehicle? If not, might as well just have two policies

mcmguti 04-12-2012 09:21 AM

1200 every 6 months :(... I hate NJ

Official word is that it is to cover the chance that I might wreck one car into the other in the parking lot! But I told them -- I swear I parked them at opposite ends of the apartment complex parking lot! I never let them come close to each other to mitigate this risk and primal urge to smash them together!

Oh well, sigh, the extra $60 I spent insuring the Corolla 2 extra months was waaaaay less than the $ I would have lost if I traded it in instead of selling it myself!

Yeah, but even if you do wreck into the other car it makes no difference, because you only have liability so thus the hit car would be covered but not the "hitter".. This stupid logic is the sole reason I don't have a pickup truck, which I would use 1-2 times a month as needed.

ace2525 04-12-2012 09:35 AM

Im 24 & live in NY. I have had a totaled vehicle and a speeding ticket in my past :/

I have full coverage, rental, emergency roadside on my '06 Acura TL w/ Geico & I pay about $85/month. Not bad at all considering alot of people are older on these boards in more rural areas and are paying more for insurance!

I'm lucky enough to be almost completely ignorant about insurance cause my parents have covered me most of my life. In my case I guess I actually have comprehensive, -- since I have a big loan on the TL-S and all I think it is required.

Undying Dreams 04-12-2012 09:39 AM

Can anybody top my $535 a month?

RaviNJCLs 04-12-2012 09:41 AM

Where do you live?

I pay about $1400 a year for the TL and a 2003 Pathfinder. Both fully covered. $100k/$300k, $500 deductible for Collision and $100 deductible for Comprehensive. I'm 36, my wife is older, no accidents or moving violations in a couple years. Mine is a tad bit higher because of how many miles I drive a year.

SharksBreath 04-12-2012 09:46 AM

26 years old, 1 point, full coverage, $500 deductible, i pay $135 a month state farm.

Undying Dreams 04-12-2012 09:48 AM

I live in FL, I posted earlier (Post #9), that's with my parents, 4 cars, 2 full coverage, $500 deduct. Progressive.

ep3kid914 04-12-2012 10:02 AM

Im 21 from ny usujng geicoand paying 160 for full coverage with 4 points

quanaman 04-12-2012 10:06 AM

I'm 21, have a 5 points on my license (In virginia +5 is the best you can get)

I have....
1 no seatbelt ticket
1 improper driving ticket
1 speeding ticket
1 disregard highway sign ticket

Those were all at least over 1 year ago^

I pay $505 with Allstate full coverage (comprehensive and collision, 500$ Deductible), 6 months....BUT that's because my dad is a co-owner on my car and we "share" it....but really its mine ;)

And we get a discount for having our home insurance with Allstate as well....Or something like that lol

Cbronze_06TL 04-12-2012 10:09 AM

mine is $75 Cnd per month with Gold policy

1black_seven 04-12-2012 10:19 AM

6-month priemum is about $500 for full coverage with USAA. Might be different if I didn't get a massive speeding ticket 6 months back.

Ah well you have great rates especially with those high limits, but I have actually added a second car and it basically double so the argument still applies even if liability only, maybe I should try another company.

juanka 04-12-2012 11:25 AM

6 month premium with 21st Century is $940 - $1,000 deductible.... Gonna change the deductible on next term... hope it doesn't go up too much :tomato:

I was paying 147 when I was living in Queens.
Moved to PA a few months ago...im paying 504 annually. and thats full coverage on my TL and S4

dontTL'em'nothing 04-12-2012 12:11 PM

Most people when they first get insurance on their own it tends to be higher but the longer you have insurance it will go down. Granted a lot of factors come into play but you get the idea.

i pay 120/monthly with 500 deductible with state farm

i_love_cars 04-12-2012 01:05 PM

my 6 month premium is 580, no points, $500 deductible. I'm with Farmer's insurance.

That's for my type-s, which is odd because for some reason, my '05 cost me about $660 for the 6 month premium - not sure how that costs more than a type-s but...

Philly 3gS 04-12-2012 01:29 PM

Progressive, 6 months for $460 full coverage with $500 deductible and not sure what property values are.

Mrtastygoody 04-12-2012 01:37 PM

I'm on my grandmother's insurance as a secondary driver, I pay her about 90 a month.
I have a 250 deductible, full comp. coverage, I think it's a 100/300/100 policy.

turbo_oxide 04-12-2012 01:45 PM

age 30
ASM 2007 TL-S
insurance company State Farm
coverage Full
$50/month ($600/year), but there's discounts due to multi-car discounts and my home-owner insurance is with them also.

ez12a 04-12-2012 01:53 PM

24 years old, $1937/yr with AAA.

Expecting a fairly significant decrease due to the change in mileage (avg under 10k/yr) when it's time for renewal later this year. Comprehensive coverage w/ uninsured motorist and some discounts. I'm expecting ~1500.

rhafikjaan 04-12-2012 02:08 PM

I must be paying the most lol.

22 yrs old
Geico
4 points
1700 for 6 months. Full coverage and 500 deductible.
My parents don't drive anymore, so i dont have the multi car discount like i did a year ago. ..

come to think of it. My parents don't even drive anymore and i might be able to get it cheaper since they shouldn't be on the policy because they aren't drivers of the car lol.. on to the 15 min call i go!!

Ch33sE1 04-12-2012 02:25 PM

2008 KBP TLS. Statefarm, $1806cdn a year ~$150 a month, full coverage, $500 deductible, $2 mill liability. 30 years old, clean record for 14 years.

gideon's_test 04-12-2012 02:29 PM

age 36
Vehicle: 2004 TL 6MT
insurance company: Citizens
coverage: Full: 300/500/
price: $97/mo
No points
Area: Detroit (No-fault)

06AMTL Gray Ghost 04-12-2012 02:32 PM

48 years old. Before I put my 16 year old son on the policy I was paying $180 a month for 3 vehicles: 2003 Chevy Avalanche, 2004 Jeep Liberty and 2006 Chrsyler 300C AWD. When I added him and traded the Jeep in for the 2006 TL it went up $70 a month (all of that was him). The TL costs me $450 a year, $1,000 deductible, high limits, 2 moving violations in the last 2 years. When he eventually gets his own car his rate will double to @$1,500 a year (still not that bad).

maharajamd 04-12-2012 02:41 PM

More for type-s because of the wheels being stolen? Who the **** want's waffles anyways! LOL

I think mine is $120 a month. 28, no points, full coverage for an 04 6spd.
