How much could I get for my HPT's?

I'm swapping out my HPT's with Falken 512's this wknd. I'm not interested nor have the $$$ to buy another set of rims for these tires. I was thinking of putting them on Ebay and selling them locally (anyone ever ship tires?), but wasn't sure how much to ask. By this wknd, they'll probably have ~800 miles on them. Since they are ~180/tire brand new, any estimates on a fair asking price? Thanks. Oh yeah, I haven't noticed any vibration issues yet with them.

Just curious of why you would buy HPT for $200 and then get rid of them after 800 miles?

I really like the tires. They seem to handle a lot better than stock.

The HPT's are good tires but on eBay (the only real market) you won't get as much as you might think. You "might" be able to get $300 for all four of them. Generally it has to be less than 50% of new price to move them on eBay. Shipping can be as much as another $50 bucks so the buyer's cost is really $350 for a $600 value (you can buy these for $145 on almost EVERY website). Why not just hold onto them until summer (You wouldn't be able to replace them cheaper).

I should have mentioned why I was selling them. With another 2 good months of winter here in Mass. , there is no way the HPT's are going to make it in the snow. I don't want to risk an accident and figured I'd either get snow tires or all seasons. I opted for the latter.

Why don't you just save it 'til spring comes around. I'm sure you'll miss the tires once weather gets warmer. Good thing I live in CA. Real estates here on the other hand...

Amen to this, just keep them and swap them in/out throughout the year. You'll never get remotely close to what you paid for them brand new.

I heard that it isn't a good thing to keep changing tires back and forth on the same rim. Which then would require getting another set of rims=more $$$. Don't have the $$$ now. Maybe by summer I will. Guess I'll have to think about it a little more.

Living here in the Midwest, I've done it with all of my cars and never bought alternate wheels. Usually, I'll make a deal with my service department or local tire shop where I buy my winter tires and have them mount and balance for a discounted fee each time I swap them out. I've never had a problem doing this.

If money is tight and you need the money for the HPT's, my guess is you'll be lucky to get 50% of what you paid for them. I could be wrong though.

Will the tire store you're buying your Falken's from give you a credit for your HPT's? Probably not but it's worth a shot.

If the Falkens are a winter tire, I'm sure you don't want to run those year round.

No, they are an AS tire, which have been rated very well by people on this board and I believe tirerack. I'd have to call the place where I bought them from to see if they'd give me any $$$ for the HPT.

Since you've already bought the Falkens, you won't likely get much from the dealership since they really don't need to buy themin order to sell you a new set. eBay is probably still a better market than the dealer but you have to try. Good luck.
