How to mount lip spoiler?

So, I got my lip spoiler from trimking (by the way he said he could possibly do a group buy for about 149 each and I told him to contact soopa or another admin about that since a lot of us have bought them from ebay and are happy with them).

Anyways, I was just wondering....when Im mounting the spoiler, should it be flush with the edge of the trunk or should it be up a little bit? Should it touch the edge of the trunk or be in 1/8th" or something similiar? I searched but didnt find exact mounting instructions.

Also, what is the best way to remove all wax and get the best "connection" with the paint on the trunk? Alcohol 50/50?

What a good temperature to install this? Its just tape so new drillin holes. Its going to be in the 40s here this weekend but I wondered if that was too cold or if I could use a hair dryer to heat up the adhesive, etc . .

Thanks in advance

Use this as a guide and see if that answers your question.

There are 3 pages of recent pictures in the photographic gallery devoted to ASPEC. The second page with pictures of simont53's show the spoiler pretty well.

Not really since it didnt come with templates. I was hoping someone else who bought through trimking could fill me on on how they lined it up.

I too contacted trimking about a group buy. They are very interested. Can someone please direct this msg to an admins attention? This is the response I received from trimking in regards to a tl lip groupbuy.

Hi
We would be interested in doing this. Is there someone who could co-ordinate this and tell us we could go about doing this. We have done this in the past and has gone very well. Our Toll free nmber is 877 230 1192. Please direct emails to spoiler@bellnet.ca. Thanks for your email.

xtin, to answer your orignal question, I put mine flush with the edge of the trunk, it actually seems to want to hang over just a tad. That seemed to be where it felt like it was supposed to fit. It just sat well like that. It was a lot harder than you would think to get in straight. Once it starts to stick it was hard to move it. Actually if you look closely at mine it is a little farther back on one end but not really noticable from afar. Here 's a pic. The picture is a little deceving because of the shadows. It looks further back on the left side but it really is only a mm or so off from the right side.

Questions...

Do you really need to change the trunk springs for just the lip spoiler?

Does water sit behind it or does it drain to the side?

You don't need to change the springs for the lip. It's not heavy at all.

I've never noticed a lot of water sitting behind it.

Count me in for a group buy. They come pre-painted, right? I'm looking for Anthracite.

I just checked the Acura website, and they are $300 plus installation!

Sorry about missing this and not getting your information sooner. The following will tell you what you need to do.

THE OFFICIAL GROUP BUY RULES

It is all right for you to run this feeler thread and find out how many people will be interested in this.

You should contact the vendor and find out how many people he would need in order to establish prices and specifications.

When you reach that minimum, you can let him know and he would have to contact astroboy by email at robb(at)acurazine(dot)com to make arrangements to become a vendor and post in the Sponsored Sales & Group Buys forum.

That would start the ball rolling, and each interested member could visit the Sponsored Sales & Group Buys forum to arrange for purchase and delivery.

We would appreciate it if you would not attempt to circumvent these procedures, since they are designed both for your protection and to provide revenue to this forum so it can continue to serve all the members.
