How many miles is too many?

I have been looking for months to buy a 3G Acura TL and have come close many times and than they all fell apart somehow. But this time I have found an 06 NBP w/ Nav with black interior for $14k. It seems like a good deal however it has 92k miles. Is that too many miles or is it fine? When does the transmission issue usually come into play?

At the end of the day, the miles only matter if it matters too you.

This car is meant to be driven beyond 200k.

So far, the 2006 models and up do not have any noticeable transmission problems. After fixing/replacing the 3rd and 4th gear sensors and doing a routinely 3x3 transmission fluid change, you shouldn't have a problem at all. The only thing too worry about at that mileage is the 105k mile service. It will cost in the range of $400-1500 (depending on dealership/shop doing the service). You can easily do a search on that.

when its in parts at the auto recycler yard- thats too many miles

There is a gen2 Moderator with 350,000 miles on an 2000!
and still takes it to track days at Road America raceway...plus its a daily driver that gets 50kmiles annually added to it
at 200 it got a cl-s motor and 6speed manual trans- got tired after 5 auto trans failures in 200,000 miles

negotiate 1000 out of the price for the 105 service, some honda shops are doing it at the cheap price which is great, but most will pay 1200-1500 to get everything done that should be done
the car is ready at current mileage for seafoam cleaning or similar and new spark plugs.
plugs cost just under 10 bucks each!!
cabin air filter is due as well- dealer gets 150$ you can diy for 30

see other threads on what to ck in buying a used TL--I did a post the other day in gen2 if you search for that

It's not too many miles and the price is really not that bad for 06.

Try to knock it down a little bit and make sure you do the 105K maintenance as others have mentioned.
