James..when I first got my car, I tried regular fuel and mid-range fuel. You will definitely see a decrease in performance on a Type S. I usually fill up when I'm down a half a tank. When you consider premium fuel will cost you another $1.50 or so for premium (with a 1/2 tank left), it's a no brainer to get premium.

mixed driving biased towards city in an 08 TL i was averaging 28mpg.....in my 02 CLS I usually get around 330-350 to a fillup of 13 gals

As you know, it depends on what type of driver you are (heavy foot) and what environment you drive in (city or highway). I just bought my TL 2 weeks ago and went 308 miles before the light came on. I filled it up about 10 miles after the light came. When I was done filling up, I only paid for 13.4 gallons of premium. I drive about 85% highway which helps. My computer says I'm averaging 29mpg.

Ohh man Im about to vent lol Ive had my TL-S for about a year and I CONSISTENTLY get 200-210 miles on a full tank. No I do not have a lead foot, I drive normal 90% of the time. My tire pressure is fine. This issue is a big thing for me because I love my car, but filling up twice a week (ish) is not fun. All my other friends with TL-Sz or similiar vehicles(3.5L engines) all get an easy 300 miles on a full tank. So ya im pretty pissed off, I have a appointment on the 19th at Keyes Acura to run some diagnostics and stuff. Hopefully they will be able to resolve this issue. And my driving is mostly City, but even then I should be able to get like an easy 240-260 miles. My MPG is really bad, if you divide my miles (200) by 15 (# of gallons) I get around 12 mpg. My friends escalade gets 12 mpg!!!!!! Im afraid whats going to happen when I put the Full ATLP setup on there. Anyway thats it!!!

I drive about 70% highway 30% city and usually get to about ~270 miles before the light comes on. But last weekend I put in a bottle of ![](http://www.texacoxpresslube.com/images/img_xl_prod_gas_techron.jpg)
in when I filled up and the light didn't come on til about ~300 miles! I guess the shit really works.

i get around 160 miles on a 13 gallon tank. my RPMs dont go over 2000RPM. so i know it isnt because of acceleration. and i drive city 90% of the time so it isnt speed either.

I believe if you preface a Google search with "site:tl.acurazine.com" you can search the site that way. There have been dozens of threads on this topic over the years; you might find some of them in the 3G Garage thread (which is sort of the 3G FAQ to some degree).
As others have said, it's kind of misleading to rely on anyone's numbers for total miles per tank. I've gotten as much as 455 miles, but that was on a trip that was all highway driving. Normally in my day-to-day commuting I might make it 280 miles on a tank, although for the past month the numbers were higher due to lighter traffic during August (especially with Congress out of town).

My TLS has 11,000 miles on it and it's about 10 months old. I find it very hard to believe the car will get 300 miles in a tank when driving in only city. The best city mileage I've seen on my car is around 17 mpg.
The best highway for me was 310 and that's going about 70% highway and at 75 mph.
The 3.5 engine is a gas hog. I will admit that.

Since switching to using only ethanol free gasoline, 91 octane, I have averaged 30-31 mpg. I commute 55 miles each way to work, almost all of which is on the highway. I usually fill up when I get to around 360-380 miles. Prior to switching to ethanol free gas, I was using nothing but Shell 91 octane and I was getting 28-29 mpg. I set the cruise just above 70 mph, rarely rev above 2200rpm.
In this sense, I definitely would not consider the 3.5 a gas hog. I have been extremely happy with the mileage on my 08 tl-s.

Didn't really feel like searching for Accuratein's mileage-game-thread
I'm now 8000KM past due.... car is heating up a lot more than usual, my AC stinks, my 3rd gear is starting to grind again.... and have two-recalls. Dealer is out of the way and with a busted tire I'm not risking going there.

AVB for President!
All freeway down I5 in California = 365-390 miles before the light comes on... That's the best I've done, although I'm sure if I drove 60-65mph all the way without varying RPM, I would probably get 425+ before the light came on.

I've gotten over 500 miles from a tank but it was spent on the freeway at 55mph with a stop every 4 hours but otherwise on cruise without slowing or speeding up. Around town I'm lucky to get 200.

On my 00TL, I used to get over 400 miles on a full tank easy ...
Now with the type-s, I am lucky if the light doesn't come on around 300 miles ... with a bigger engine, this is expected from type-s ... something has to give for the sake of more power ...

I dont expect my TL-S to go 300m with only city driving. But at least anything close to 250!!?? Its just really really bad. I cant wait to take my car to the dealership for some diagnostics, so they can find the problem that if there is one.

i usually get between 320-345miles on a tank its 24-25mpg....thats premium fuel, if i use mid grade its much less like under 300 for the tank...it will cost you more money to use mid grade fuel then it will to use premium...i dont see any performance differences between the different grade fuel, just mpg.....

I reset my computer trip mileage, every time I fill up and I fill up when the tanks almost empty, I know its not good on the fuel pump and the motor.
I got my best a couple weeks ago, I have a stock 2006 TL 5AT
AVG MPG: 29
DIST: 446 miles
and that was with 15.3 gallons of 87 octane and I drove 65% hwy and 35% city
all hwy I can get 30-35 mpg
all city I can get 20-23 mpg

I have a 2006 TL, the first fill up I did when I purchased it, the counter said 518km to empty on 92 octane, after that, everytime I full up I have never gotten more than 360km on a full tank, depends on how i drive and how i brake, but it pisses me off so now I put premium 1/3 fill ups
